The Hostelz.com Review
Budapest Budget Hostel is a decent and cheap place to spend your holiday, with nice facilities and staff -- plus you can always find places to go at night.
The Location
The location of the hostel is not very good. The hostel is located two or three metro stations from the city center or the international bus station, but the metro station is a thirty-minute walk from the hostel and and the hostel is located far from the main street, so it may take some time to find it. Alternatively, you may choose to take the tram (running round the clock) for one stop from the metro station to save fifteen minutes' walking distance along the main street, but it depends on your budget. In the neighbourhood you can find twenty-four-hour shops, plenty of budget restaurants and bars, and two supermarkets. The famous restaurant street is a few block away.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The rooms and beds are very nice, clean, and spacious with nice bed sheets. The ordinary four-bed shared room is of the size of an eight- to ten-bed room in some other hostels, and none of them are bunk beds. While no in-room lockers are available, a small number of lockers are available for free elsewhere in the hostel -- you may expect them to be fully occupied all the time. Every room has a door lock. Three bathrooms are located in the public area, and not all of them have a toilet -- expect a long queue during high season. Bathrooms are quite small, and you can hardly find a place to change or place your clothes.
Common Spaces
There are plenty of common areas -- a kitchen with laundry is at your disposal, where you can gather and chat, plus there is also a outdoor area where you can smoke. People are nice and friendly -- you won't get bored -- but they are not the party type of people.
Summary
If you are looking for a nice place within a tight budget, this is definitely your place. But if you can afford a bit more and would like to save your travel time from traveling to and from the hostel, there are loads more choices at the city centre, as this is not an expensive city to live in anyway.
