Penzion BERC is more like a pension. It is family run and the hosts are very helpful and nice. It is a converted farmhouse that is more than a hundred years old and is very charming and rustic with wood paneling everywhere. The guests are not the young backpacker crowd. Most of the guests are couples with cars. There are eleven en-suite rooms. There is free parking in front and free bikes for guest use. The owners are very nice and if you don't have a car they will pick up guests from the bus and train station. The building itself is aging. There is no air conditioning. The buffet breakfast is delicious and this is a great place to relax and kick back.
The Location
The BERC is easy to find from the bus stop. Just head toward Hotel Golf, which is next door to it, and keep walking past their main entrance -- you'll find the BERC. The family also runs the Hotel BERC beside the pension. The location is very close to the lake and the setting has a garden and is very relaxing and peaceful.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The bedrooms and bath are in one building but the common rooms are in a connecting building. The bedrooms are spacious but the decor is very cozy and homey. There are balconies for sitting outside. The beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms are spotlessly clean.
Common Spaces
The common rooms are new. There is a lounge, breakfast room, self-serve honor bar for mixing a drink, and an internet terminal. The rustic farmhouse feel is very relaxing -- it's as though you were staying in a family home. The common areas are well equipped with books and card games. There is plenty of space to relax and meet other travelers. There is no kitchen for guest use but breakfast is provided.
Summary
The BERC has a very lovely bed and breakfast setup. There are large public areas for relaxing. This would be a great place to stay for those traveling with a family or as a couple. If you are looking for a party social atmosphere full of young travelers, then this place is not for you -- BERC is for relaxing.
