The Hostelz.com Review
Vagabonds is a great option for budget travelers looking for a clean bed and a social experience in Belfast.
The Location
Located just off the main square, Vagabonds is in a safe neighborhood and easy to locate. The main bus station is only a ten-minute walk away from the hostel. Food and convenience stores are located nearby and the hostel features a kitchen for use by guests.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The twelve-bed mixed dorm was served by under-bed crates that allowed guests to use personal locks to secure belongings. However, due to some of the beds overlapping, certain beds have difficulty removing and accessing these under-bed storage crates. Also, guests with large amounts of luggage will struggle to fit their belongings within the crate, although the hostel may offer other options to secure luggage.
Other room options include private rooms (double and twin) and dorms of four, six, eight, and twelve beds. Showers are shared and may not be located on the same floor as a guest's room. The room and shower facilities are very clean. Shower water pressure is great and there are no problems with hot water.
Common Spaces
Vagabonds offers several common space areas including a TV room, patio, and guest kitchen. The TV room located on the main level of Vagabonds features a book exchange and is eccentrically decorated with many pictures. The main common room also has ample seating by introducing large cushions and bean bags in addition to chairs and couches.
The common room is small compared to some larger hostels, yet fosters a fun atmosphere to connect with fellow guests. The guest kitchen might be cramped for some cooking tasks, but is functional for small meals and offers a complementary breakfast consisting of cereal, oatmeal, and toast. Coffee and tea are available all day. The hostel also has two computers for guest use -- thirty minutes is complimentary and after guests must pay for use. Wi-Fi is free.
Summary
Vagabonds can be recommended on the basis of its cleanliness, location, and social atmosphere. A great value for the cost, Vagabonds would be a great option for travelers to consider when visiting the Belfast area.

One of the best hostels around Vagabonds is literally one of the best hostels around. The staff go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable. It has a family atmosphere with a great kitchen, dining room, and lounge. It is also very clean (a nice change compared with most of the hostels in Belfast). Having stayed in hostels all over Europe, I would highly recommend this hostel. — Tim K , USA (2009-10-13)
