The Hostelz.com Review
The Journeys hostel in Brighton is located in a great location -- it's cheap, clean, and very accessible by both public transport or car.
The Location
The hostel is located on a the big lane that brings you right to the seafront. This makes the hostel easily accessible by car -- in contrast to most places in the city centre -- and there are bus stops on the street, with the train station only a five-minute walk away. The location is right in the city centre in easy walking distance to the beach, The Lanes, and Brighton's famous nightlife.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The rooms all work with an electronic code, which makes it a safe place and you don't have to worry about losing keys or cards that don't work. The rooms are rather small, but very clean and newly furbished. Some rooms have in-room lockers.
The dorm rooms all have bunk beds, but triple ones! This means that three people are stacked on top of each other. Where at first sight I thought this was going to be a very claustrophobic experience, the beds were surprisingly comfortable, and the curtains on each bed give a nice sense of privacy. However, climbing into the beds requires some degree of flexibility, so I would not recommend this hostel for people who are physically unfit or have special needs. The small beds also make it almost impossible to read in your bed, and since there are no table or chairs in the room, the only place to hang out is the communal area downstairs.
There are bathrooms and toilets on each floor, and more toilets can be found in the hallway along the staircase. The bathrooms are clean and spacious, with hooks and mirror.
Common Spaces
The communal area is a bright, trendily decorated lounge/bar with TV, and DVDs and games for hire. You can buy coffee and all sorts of teas, along with alcoholic beverages and cakes. There are two comfy sofas, cushions, and tables with chairs to sit on.
Every floor has its own kitchen. Guests do their own dishes, so cleanliness is dependent on your fellow guests. Smoking in the hostel is not allowed, so smokers generally gathers outside in front of the hostel. The hostel has a laid-back atmosphere, and it is easy to meet people. Brighton is popular for it's clubbing scene, so on weekends you should expect people entering your room late at night.

All by all this is a great hostel in a great location. Breakfast is included in the price, which makes it a good deal. We especially enjoyed the trendy decoration of the hostel and its location.
