The Hostelz.com Review
Excellent location, extremely sympathetic personnel, and the necessary facilities make Good Morning Budapest Hostel a very suitable option for stay in Budapest.
The Location
The hostel is located only two blocks away from Nyugati train station, from which you can take a cheap train to the airport, one of the metro lines and the trams that pass close to the main attractions (4 and 6). The building itself is kind of old, and only a small banner on the door shows that you're at the right place. The hostel consists only of the second floor of the building. You can easily reach the local sights on foot -- Parliament (five minutes), Danube river (seven minutes), Margaret Island (twelve minutes).
Rooms and Bathrooms
There are several types of dorms, ranging from two people to eight. Every bed has a drawer under it, in which there's enough space for all the luggage, and you can lock this drawer (locks can be provided, if you don't bring yours). Mattresses are in somewhat good condition, but pillows are not so good. Linen, including duvet, is provided and already set in the bed. In summer you'll need to remove it, because it can get quite warm in the bedroom.
There are only two bathrooms for the whole hostel. Most of the time this is not a problem, but close to "going-out time" you may have to wait for a shower. But the facilities seem absolutely new and clean. Showers are good, water temperature is adjustable and the amount of water that flows is good enough. There are not many spaces for leaving clothes or soap and shampoo inside the box, and this can be a little annoying. Towels are provided for free.
Common Spaces
There are several possibilities for spending time inside the hostel. There is a living room with cable TV, so it's possible to watch that important tennis match or the soccer game, but not much more than that, since almost all of the channels are in Magyar. However, there is a DVD player and a number of films to choose from and watch a movie there. Also, there is Wi-Fi internet throughout the hostel and two computers to surf the internet. A shelf full of books (mostly in English) is also available. There is a fully equipped kitchen, so guests can also cook if they feel like saving some money (there is a big supermarket only one block away). The hostel has a fridge with cheap beer and water, very useful for when you're too lazy to go to the supermarket.
Budapest is a city full of options and a vibrant nightlife, so usually guests don't stay much at the hostel. There are many pubs nearby, such as an Irish Pub right in front and Instant Pub & Club five minutes away.
Summary
Overall, there is not much more you could ask from a hostel -- they have everything you need for the basics and even some extras, like some laundry machines, free computers for internet, and cable TV in addition to the location and the very friendly staff. This hostel is highly recommended.
