Quiet, but welcoming hostel Scheemda is well off the beaten track from Netherland's main attractions (although the fabulous Groningen is not far away), so I can image the only people who'd really stay here are school groups and outdoor types. It was very quiet when I arrived, and had a full dorm to myself, but did get a friendly welcome from the owner, and despite there being less that a dozen guests, they put on a good breakfast with cereal, yogurt, and lots of bread. The hostel is also a borg -- a typical aristocratic residence of the Groningen region -- so you can sample a little of the local history whilst you're there too. Place is well kept, comfortable rooms, and I had a good night's sleep.
