The Hostelz.com Review
Alessandro Legends Hostel, previously called Alessandro Indipendenza, is a small, new hostel in a central area near the Roma Termini (train station). This makes arrival in Rome very easy. If you are coming from the airport, make your way to Termini. If you are travelling within Italy, your train will terminate at Termini. If you come by bus, get on a metro and get to Termini. From the station it's only a 5 minute walk. Avoid the touts at the station and take the right hand exit from the station (facing forwards from the direction the trains arrive).

Do however keep an eye out for the hostel entrance. It's at the bottom of a building, it's one of the apartments, and it is possible to walk past without seeing the sign. Once you locate the right door to enter off the street you just climb up to the right floor.

There are only a few rooms at the hostel, which makes it a little bit more personal than other hostels. Unfortunately, all the rooms come off two tiny corridors, so it's set up like a little hotel. The rooms have dorm beds and there's a central kitchen for breakfast in the morning and a common area to hang out in at night. Each dorm has from about four bunk beds per room and an ensuite bathroom with a separate toilet and shower. All the ammenities are pretty clean.

Legends is part of the Hostels Alessandro group (consisting of several hostels in Rome), so you can make use of the active bar at the Palace in the evenings, and the big screen TV and other activities they have like pizza nights and pub crawls. The Palace is only a few minutes walk away.

4  Small friendly Hostel in a good location This is a small hostel halfway up an apartment block (don't stay here if you don't like stairs!). It is just very close to Rome's main station which is really convenient. There is a small shop just round the corner if you want to buy beer/wine or anything, and an ATM across the road. The dorm's were quite small but clean and had air conditioning. It can be quite noisy at night because of it's location. They do free dinner each evening, just pasta and sauce but it's nice and a great way to meet other people. The staff were polite and helpful as well.  , England ()
4  Clean, Nice, but not much social gatherings 4 nights. First hostel ever. Traveled solo. It was pricey at about 45 dollars a night during the busiest time of the year though and booking made only a week in advance. It was very clean, did have a/c but only for night time, a couple of the receptionists were pretty rude, rest were really nice. The breakfast sucked, spoiled milk and some stiff bread. Free pasta at nite was good. No social interaction, only randomly found people and asked to hang out, no pub crawls or anything organized. I would stay again though.  , USA ()
5  Excellent For this being the first time I ever stayed in a hostel, I loved it. Our room was very clean and under each bed you are given a rollout draw to lock your items in. There is also other locker spaces available. The front desk was very helpful providing maps and directions. The 15 minute free internet was nice, although I had to wait a few times to use it. The best part of this hostel though was their free pasta dinner each night we were there. Nowhere else we went after gave us any sort of dinner and it is all homemade and all you can eat. We also could watch movies during dinner and afterward. The only issue was the light in our shower was our so we had to shower with the door cracked, but really no big deal. The bathroom for our room was kept clean which was nice. It is on the 2nd floor, there is a tiny lift to take up or you can walk if you arent as brave. I would stay here again, the free pasta dinner will save you a lot of money if you were on a budget like me.  , USA ()
4  Great Pasta! clean room, great location we had three great days here in this hostel. nice parties in the kitchen. there is a great coffee machine with espresso, macciato. everyday we had pasta for free. the rooms were ok. maybe in the morning a little bit loud but i liked the music, you could here in the evening from the restaurant some metres far. i would come again.  , Germany ()
5  Excellent! This hostel was great -- one of the best we saw in Europe! The staff was friendly and the room was clean. The free breakfast is just a roll but it's filling. We also got free pasta and wine for dinner! The location is perfect too. It's only a two-minute walk from the train station and subways.  , USA ()
5  Excellent Hostel Excellent Hostel. We will stay here again.  , brazil ()
4  Very good this is a small quiet hostel. almost all of my others had bars in them so this was a nice break. it was very clean and very safe. the people in my room were all really cool and everyone got along. theres a great kitchen and they give you free pasta. id definitely recommend using the elavetor as its up a LOT of stairs!  , USA ()
3  My friend and I stayed in the eight person dorm room. The room had bunk beds and was clean. It was a bit difficult sleeping due to the noise from outside all night (people hanging out). The bathroom was very tiny with only one toilet and shower for eight people to share.  ()
4  This is a very small but extremely clean and secure hostel. Also, it's cheap at 18 euros a night for a room with it's own shower that couldn't be any cleaner. I certainly recommend it.  ()
4  A small, newly built hostel 4 blocks from the train station. It's fairly newly built and it's clean. There are only 5 rooms, and a small kitchen with a TV. Each room has bunkbeds and its own bathroom.  ()
