Description
Two buildings on either side of a forest track, one is the youth hostel, the other the National Outdoor Training Centre. Originally, a farmhouse built around 1870 with a central courtyard, it was the first youth hostel to be located in a state forest.
John M. Synge, the poet, was a frequent visitor. Wild deer roam the woodlands to the front of the hostel and an outdoor sculpture exhibition nearby is of particular interest.
Check in time at Tiglin hostel is strictly after 5pm and check out is 10am. Guests must check in before 10pm and must advise the hostel if they will be later than 10pm. The hostel is closed to guests between 10am and 5pm.
