Fantastic! What a fantastic location across the road from beach, kayaks to use. Short walk to town and passenger ferry. Great base to see rest of area, Cathedral Cove and Hot Water Beach a "must do." I was lucky enough to stay in a unit double and twin with all its own facilities (kitchen/bathroom/dining area/lounge/own deck). Fantastic! Such a great price too. Thanks to staff -- Margaret, Sally, Richard and Steve so hospitable and knowledgeable -- made my stay memorable. will definitely stay again.

I traveled the whole of new zealand and this was by far my favourite place. Right on the beach with mountains covered with mist on either side, a charming receptionist, and a beautiful black cat. The room was lovely, very homey, and the bathrooms in good nik! I loved whitianga and i loved this rustic but charming backpackers.

This was one of the best hostels i ever stayed in. There are only two "problems" with it. One is that it is far from the city so it is not the place to be if you are looking to party. The views are great though. The second is that the bicycle rental and the internet rental fees are high but then again, if you want to use it.... On the whole, it is a great place to be to relax and get away from it all.
