This popular hostel is in one of the prettiest country towns in North Yorkshire. It?s a cosy stone-walled building with comfortable, modern facilities on the edge of the National Park just a few minutes? walk from the shops and pubs of Helmsley. A favourite choice for groups, families and outdoor clubs, it?s close to a host of attractions and activities including Rievaulx Abbey and is at the start of the Cleveland Way.

Clean and comfortable Bit of an odd one this. On arrival it looks like a residential house in a suburban street ... unusually discrete. Once inside it's very much a purpose built hostel; and it is a youth hostel at that and not a backpackers joint! There's a large and well equipped guests' kitchen and a cosy common area. Dorms are clean and have very comfortable beds and there are plenty of bathrooms in the corridors. There a a number of annoying features as well though ... there's no free wi-fi, bizarre in this day & age, there's a booze ban but you are allowed to buy it at inflated prices in the hostel shop, and extra items such as towels are charged extra.
