Description

The Hostelz.com Review

Hostel La Candelaria is really comfortable and a nice stay. The staff are really friendly and helpful and will go out of their way to help you out with anything that you may need.

The Location

The hostel is close to the downtown region and only a three-block walk from the central bus station in Valladolid. You can access most major amenities from here and they will only be a short walk away.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The rooms here are clean and tidy. They are equipped with a good quality mattress, sheets, and pillow. Each person is also allocated a large locker -- provide your own lock or leave a deposit at the front desk to borrow a lock for the locker for your stay. The bathrooms have great shower heads and are really clean. They are located in an outdoor block that is serviced daily in the mornings. Towels are for rent here for the duration of your stay if you do not have your own.

Common Spaces

There is an abundance of common space in this hostel to hang out and meet people. They have two kitchens -- a smaller one inside and a larger one in the outdoor area out back where they serve breakfast every morning. They have an area right at the back of the hostel with hammocks where you can lie around and relax, and lots of different tables and chairs in nooks and crannies of the jungle-themed garden. Out back there are also sinks, where you can hand wash your laundry.

Inside, you will find the reception area, which has a computer with access to the internet and chairs where you can hang around. They have a couch area, too, with a television, a book exchange, and a guitar. There are cats that roam around the hostel; you will often find them outside playing, or lounging around.

Summary

The hostel has a super cool, relaxed, and friendly vibe to it and it is a really cool place to stay in Valladolid. It's definitely one of the best hostels that we have seen in Mexico!

A quiet and friendly place to stay while visiting Valladolid. The Location This well run hostel is located very close to the center town square, just a few blocks from the ADO bus station. It was easy to find and is in a great location for your time in Valladolid. The hostel is located adjacent to a quiet little public park, Parque de Candelaria. There are plenty of restaurants, shops and markets all with in easy walking distance from the hostel. Rooms and Bathrooms There are a variety of rooms to choose from. There are dorms, private rooms or rooms with ensuite. Private rooms have good locks on the doors. Lockers are also available in the building. The shared bathroom facilities provide privacy and separate shower rooms with space for your things are clean. There are many located throughout the property. There are hand washing sinks located also near the bathrooms and throughout the property with soap dispensers. A standard double room provides simple accommodation with a double bed, table and one chair. The room has a safe box, good lighting and a ceiling fan and window for good ventilation. Rooms are brightly painted, clean and comfortable. Common Spaces The property has many comfortable common spaces all with free wifi. There are two shared kitchens, one is in the building and one under a palapa. Both kitchens have multiple work surfaces and hot plates. There are two indoor lounges one with a television and the other a sitting area in the lobby. The outside common space is absolutely fantastic. The vibe is friendly and social yet quiet and serene. It is set amongst beautifully maintained wild gardens. There are many colorful tables and chairs, with electrical outlets nearby to keep your electronics charged. You will find plenty of shade to hide from the sun and an area at the back of the garden with several hammocks for your afternoon siesta. Summary This property with its beautiful gardens is a great place to mingle with other international travelers, tell stories and share ideas for future travels Each morning there is a free breakfast the menu rotates around a few different items such as scrambled eggs or French toast, fresh fruit, good bread, jam, cereal and coffee. The hostel is wonderfully laid back and on our visit we found a good mix of young people and well seasoned travelers. We highly recommended this place when you are in Valladolid. It is an oasis from the bustle of traveling and a good place to recharge.

I loved the hostel and Valladolid!
I really enjoyed my stay at this hostel. It is located very close to the city center and the bus station (perfect location for me), and the staff is very friendly and helpful. My room was not huge but nice and clean. Breakfast was included in the price and it was ok (much, much better than I could have expected for this price). If I ever came back to Valladolid, I would choose this hostel again -- good quality at a very reasonable cost. And Valladolid is a lovely town, very tourists-friendly, definitely worth to visit!

Excellent for a hostel
Excellent staffs and facility. Very good in every aspects for a hostel but unfortunately, hot water was not reliable in the room we stayed in (four people with en suite bath). we stayed there for three nights. staff tried to rectify the problem but with no avail. Until the hot water issue is rectified, they should not be renting the room out as en suite bath, as we need to use the shared bathroom.

Feels like a home away from home
One of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. Warm hospitality, great vibes, lovely setting, and lots of TLC. Delicious full breakfast as well. Highly recommended! It's a sanctuary, a cozy retreat at a very reasonable price. You can't go wrong.
