Alcatraz Hostel

Also my first time in a hostel, and it was excellent! I did a shared room, on a weekday, for around $9USD. The bedroom and common areas are very clean. The men's shower might be considered iffy, but it worked out ok, and I'm sure it was clean for a hostel -- there was definitely hot water when I wanted it! Location is also great -- I don't think there's a closer hostel to the downtown "action" (if you could call San Miguel "active"), but it's definitely not too close. And purified water is included, for refilling water bottles or cooking with! I would stay here again, and I just may!

Very, very clean, close to the zocalo and the foreigner is very nice. One of the best hostels I've visited!

Luis and Rosi were very nice and helpful.We stayed there a week and even came back to visit after we left and rented a house. Highly recommended.

It is very clean, close to the center of the town, and has excellent hosts. They are very knowledgeable about the town and the cities that are close by. I would recommend this hostel to any backpacker passing through since Hostel Alcatraz made my stay in San Miguel very enjoyable.

I had never stayed at a hostel before this, and was I ever pleased with my first experience! Rosi and Luis are the most gracious hosts, and the accommodations are clean and spacious with a lovely and inviting ambience. I am just finishing my second visit here with a friend who came from Canada to join me. Both times I have visited Hostel Alcatraz, and I have remained for over a week because this hostel is as good as many hotels. Thank you for a delightful time in San Miguel de Allende!

We had a great time at Alcatraz. They are SO nice, they had a surprise party for my birthday!!! We only stayed for 2 nights and we wish we could have stayed for more. It is definitely the best deal in San Miguel. The beds are good and everything is really clean.

The Hostel Alcatraz is definitely good value for money. The first thing that strikes you is the friendliness and helpfulness of the hosts. The rooms and facilities are nice, clean, and done with love. And it's really cheap for San Miguel de Allende. Many thanks to the Alcatraz Team!
