The Alamo Hostel is nicely located in an easy location to find, about two blocks off of the main road and three blocks from the beach. It's in easy walking distance from almost anywhere in Rosarito, and conveniently close to many restaurants and nightclubs.
Our first impression was that it's a very rundown place where the rooms (with between 4-6 people on bunkbeds) are located in a small building, within a 'yard' of miscellanous items such as dogs and trailers. The inside is clean though and there is room to place your bags and still move around a bit. There are stoves and sinks in the rooms, making cooking a piece of cake (when they're functioning).
The bathroom is shared and just down the hallway. It is small, but fairly clean and sufficient to get the job done. There is a small pool, but it was not filled with water at the time of our visit (it is during the summer). There is also a small workout bench outside and some weights. There is no big public place that is covered from the weather where backpackers can hang out and talk, the only main cover is in the rooms or the office. The people running the office do speak some English, but you can give your Spanish a try.
The occupancy at the hostel fluctuates with the occupancy of the town of Rosarito itself--busy on the weekends and pretty dead throughout the rest of the week.
