Good location, great pool, well-priced ... Very well run, no issues, nice dorms with fans. The pool is excellent and very clean and well maintained. The tours offered are very good value and great fun. GO TO THE CENOTES! Absolutely outstanding! — Paul G , UK (2012-04-29)

Best hostel I´ve Ever Stayed at! LOVED everything about this hostel and it made my time in Merida probably one of my favourite stops in my 4 months of travel. The weather was awful, but the showers were cool and had great pressure. The pool was amazing. The hammocks and tables with umbrellas everywhere give a great ambiance, and the live music and salsa dancing classes every night were incredible. Dorms got HOT, but individual super duty fans next to EVERY bed mitigated that. Best group of people I've ever met at a hostel too. Just uber friendly and fun every night. No real downside whatsoever. — Dan , Canada (2011-01-11)
A mediocre Choice I really don't understand the fascination with the place. Stayed here last year, and found it to be passable. Stayed here this year, and it had gone downhill even further. Yes, the common area is nice. But the owner thinks it is a privilege to stay there, and has all sorts of rules about alcohol possession (only beer and wine, no liquor) and generally treats guest a bit snootily. Charges for everything, even leaving luggage a couple hours after check out time. Internet service was down more often than not for most of my stay. A friend stayed here in early May, and as of late June the same two smelly toilets were still out of order. There was not even a minimal attempt at cleaning the private room I was in. I had booked it online, and in 4 days they never even emptied the garbage, much less passed through it with a mop! It still has the advantages of a diverse group of travelers and a nice courtyard, but you can do better in Merida at a cheap hotel, especially if there are more than one of you. — Tom Sanderson , USA (2007-07-04)

This is the best hostel we stayed at in Mexico. It's really cheap, with beautiful private rooms, a lovely common area, and offers cheap trips to the Mayan sites. — Denise (2004-07-14)

I spent a week at the Nomadas back in December and was alarmed by the poor treatment of laborers who were repairing the sewage system at the hostel. I was horrified to see a day laborer sticking his bare hand, unprotected by a rubber glove into a raw sewage hole to unclog the sewer line. Surely it is the responsibility of the manager of the hostel to hire only vendors who provide their workers with the very minimum of sanitary protection! — Geoffrey E.
