The Hostelz.com Review
Mexico Hostel has it's ups and downs. While the rooms and bathrooms are nice and clean, the beds move a lot while you're sleeping and with only one bathroom in an eight bed room, there is a bit of backlog in the mornings. They have a huge variety of guide books that you can borrow and lots of helpful information about how to get around and things in the area posted. The stocked kitchen is clean (on the terrace) and has a nice selection of community spices. The terrace has a great view and breeze to help cut the heat of Cancun and to provide a nice social area to hang out.

The hostel is easy to find—from the first class bus station hang a right without crossing any intersections; you will turn right at the first stoplight. If you're in the mood to pay attention, look up to see a variety of flags waving from the patio a bit before the stoplight. While the hostel is normally priced, it is not located in a very cheap area. Next door a lady sells sandwiches and juice at reasonable prices, but other than that even a grocery store is hard to come by.

The rooms here can get quite hot but if you're near a fan it's ok. Decently fast Internet is available and reasonably priced for the area. Breakfast is free but you'll have to go to the terrace to get your coffee and ask for a piece of break from the front desk.

I stayed in this piece of crap for three days and couldn't wait to get out. It has disgusting bathrooms and living conditions. I went for a shower and there was old, congealed blood on the wall. I would strongly urge people not to go here. They let anyone stay, so there was a homeless person sleeping next to me who really freaked me out. Oh yeah, there is heaps of drug use, too, and annoying backpackers.

There are a lot better places to stay cheaply in Cancun. Sixteen beds in a tiny room! And we saw a fair selection of street bums while we were there. Nah, avoid this one.
