Reykjavik Backpackers is a clean, warm, well-located, and perfectly serviceable option for budget accommodation in central Reykjavik.
The Location
The hostel is perfect for reaching from the airport, as the Flybus service will drop guests right outside the door, so there is no worry about getting lost or having bother with late night/early morning arrivals. For the return journey to the airport the bus will pick up passengers from a few doors down on the same street. The street the hostel is situated on is Rekyavik's main shopping street and is central for all the bars and clubs (although those looking for a quiet stay should be aware the hostel is located very close to a nightclub and at weekends there is certainly considerable noise disturbance that would disturb some).
Rooms and Bathrooms
The hostel has sixteen dorms sleeping four to eight people (female only dorms are available) and also four private rooms sleeping two to three people. All rooms are locked with key cards for access and the hostel itself is permanently locked with access given by a entering a key code. Lockers are available at no extra charge. Toilets and showers are shared and separate from the dorms. Dorm rooms can seem quite compact but toilets and showers are of good size and well-equipped. The decor of all dorm rooms is stark, with everything painted white but they are cosy and well heated in Iceland's arctic conditions as well as being spotlessly clean.
Common Spaces
There are several common spaces for reading, relaxing, or watching television, with one situated on every floor. These have comfortable chairs and more colourful decor than the rest of the hostel. The top floor has a very small yet well-equipped kitchen with utensils and domestic appliances, as well as having a free food cupboard. Guests can also make use of a book exchange on the third floor. The hostel is sociable and friendly with fellow guests seeming courteous and acceptably quiet even when returning late from a night out. Tours and activities are run by the hostel or bookable through them with pick-up from outside the door.

Reykjavik Backpackers is great for a stay in Reykjavik. It's well equipped, comfortable, and pleasant, with plenty of tours and activities as well as an ideal location for nightlife (as long as you don't mind that it's close enough to hear it).
