Hostelz.com's Review
When arriving at LimeTime Hostels - Paulista Avenue in the middle of São Paulo, it is very easy to find since you see a big lime painted on the outside of the hostel. The door will be opened for you and you will enter the reception area, where there is a computer for your use.

The Location

The hostel is located in the heart of São Paulo -- Paulista Avenue -- close to the metro and restaurants. A short walk from the hostel is a big supermarket where you will find everything you might need. Besides that, the kitchen is well equipped and you can cook a proper meal. The hostel itself is in split into two buildings; in the bigger building are three dorms, the reception and the kitchen, whereas in the other building there is the bar plus more dorms.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The eight-bed dorm smells very bad -- as if there were wet towels and no air circulation within the room. The six-bed dorm smells only a little bit, although the window was open and the fan was running at the time of our stay. Unfortunately it is too warm in São Pualo to close the window, so there is the street noise; in addition, the window is just above the entrance and the metal gate is not quiet to close, so bring ear plugs. There are other dorms in a newer building just across the patio.

The bathrooms -- at least the ones that are working -- are kept clean. Besides that, the showers provide warm water and are spacious, unlike the toilets, which are fairly small.

Common Spaces

There are different areas within the hostel where you can sit down and relax. Within the reception area, there is a very comfortable sofa. Also just next to the kitchen, there are chairs and tables where people come together to chat or to eat their meal. There is also an outside area next to the bar; this was closed during our stay, although it is supposed to be open, so we could not get the free drinks. Besides that, the hostel has a rule to shut down the Wi-Fi from 9 to 10 in order to have people socializing. Unfortunately when we were there, there were just a few people and the bar was closed as well.

Summary

The hostel has some great features and has been open for a long time. At the moment, it has been worn down quite a bit and it's not too great to stay there -- the rooms smell and the sofas are worn out as well. For breakfast, there is only tea and coffee. Since they want to secure the hostel, you have to ring the bell and wait for the staff to open it; when the staff are not at the reception area, the opening takes some time.

, age 40, argentina ()
