The Hostelz.com Review
Etnico Eco Hostel, with its lovely building, has an excellent location and beautiful private gardens. It is a young and friendly hostel with plenty of common areas to facilitate socialising, creating a really nice atmosphere. The staff are very helpful and are more than happy to assist with booking any activities or tours you may wish to undertake during your stay.

The Location

This hostel is very well located -- just a short walk away from the lake and beach (black sand) in one direction and the main street (O'Higgins) in the other. The hostel is approximately fifteen minutes away from the TurBus Station if travelling by foot -- simply exit the building, turn right onto O'Higgins, and walk until you reach Colo Colo street, then turn right and continue on for about four blocks. Keep your eyes peeled, though, as you could easily walk straight past the hostel! It is on the corner of Colo Colo and Holzapfel and is well hidden behind a large brown fence and tall trees.

Rooms and Bathrooms

Dorm rooms are spacious and clean. Whilst keys are issued, making it possible to lock the doors to dorm rooms, not all guests choose to do so! Storage space is available in the dorms but there are no lockers. The bathrooms are clean, but guests who stay in Room 5 will be especially happy to have the luxury bathroom en-suite! There is a spa bath located in this bathroom, although its use is discouraged due to water economy. The hostel has a sauna which is available for guests to use (this incurs an additional charge).

Common Spaces

There is a large, comfortable TV room that guests are welcome to use, the dining table is located within the same room. The kitchen is a decent size and is kept clean and tidy and there is ample cupboard space for guests to store groceries and storage space within the fridge. There is a further common room with tables and chairs and also two small tables and several chairs in the large garden, a popular place for guests to socialise. Also in the garden, guests will find a BBQ, two hammocks, and a swimming pool. The hostel provides Wi-Fi for those with laptops and for those without, the hostel has a computer that guests can use upon request.

Summary

The property feels secure, with key access at the front gate only, and it's completely surrounded by tall trees and fences -- the gardens are private and tranquil for those who simply wish to relax here beside the pool during the day. Perhaps the only negative is that the breakfast offered by the hostel is only available for one hour each day (9 to 10 a.m.), which is a little restrictive, but overall, this hostel is very pleasant, clean, and comfortable.

5 Fantastic stay all around!
This was one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, nice rooms, and in incredible backyard with a pool and patio. Great place to meet people and relax in the pucon sun when you're not hiking the volcano or white water rafting. Definitely worth a visit!

5 Awesome place, great yard, cool house, very friendly owner Gustavo
Etnico Eco Hostel is a wonderful place to stay while in Pucon. Gustavo Arenas the owner is a very friendly guy who can offer plenty of excursions while in Chile's adventure capital, Pucon. Etnico has an awesome yard to hang out, have an asado, and in the summer take a dip in the pool. The house is really cool with a great common area. I can not say enough good things about Gus and the job he has done with Etnico.
