Nomads Byron Bay Backpackers Reviews from the Web
Hostelz.com Guest Reviews
1  Not friendly Staff are very rude, unfriendly, and not willing to help. They made a mistake with my booking and didn't acknowledge their mistake or try to fix it and we very rude when I complained. A friend of mine also had an issue there of someone climbing into their room from the balcony & smashing a glass in there and nothing was done about it. They were not given back their bond and were even told by staff to never come back. Not what a byron bay backpackers should be. Rooms a newer than most, thats about the only "positive."  , Australian ()
1  Horribly Unfriendly! Unfriendly, sterile, and cold. Everything Byron is not! I could see this hostel maybe being in Sydney but not Byron. It felt like the majority of the hostel either worked there or had been there long term. This made it very difficult to meet or talk to anyone in the hostel. The majority, apart from one or two of the people who worked there were clicky d*ckheads who could give a sh*t about anyone there except for their "I WORK HERE CLUB". These longtermers/employees thought they were coolest people on earth since they worked and lived in Byron. On top of that, Nomads is the only hostel in Byron that allows rugby and footy clubs to stay there. This means during season about 100 drunken, extremely crazy, loud, drunk obnoxious footy and rugby players swarm the place during the weekend and trash the place including everyone and everything in it! The room I was in literally had sh*t stains everywhere on the carpet from past rugby players pooing on the floor while drunk. The only this place has going for it is that it's still new and in town. Don't stay there!  , France ()
3  More Sydney than Byron bay Nomads is the newest and also by far most expensive hostel in Byron bay. Sadly it's not the best. Way to big and absolute no feeling of Byron bay at all. Staff and guests are not that friendly and "chilled" as Byron bay is famous for. This is a typical Sydney hostel placed in Byron bay only to make money.  , Sweden ()
1  Money money money this is not a hostel but a cheap hotel pretending to be a hostel. hostels usually have friendly staff and are basic, clean, and a home away from home. sadly byron bay nomads have got it wrong. the rooms all look the same. the staff are on set to autopilot. the guests are not like minded travelers but drunken locals. Byron Bay is famous, for saying no to Mcdonalds and other capitalist corporations. sadly nomads slipped through the net. if you stay here you are missing out on a true byron bay experience and giving your money to faceless money grabbing corporations. go away nomads!  , England ()
1  I moved out quick! if you want to get woken up at 3 o'clock in the morning by drunken guys spraying you with goon then this is the place for you. one guy forced his way into our room and only left when another girl started screaming. this was on my first night and the other girl in the room said it had happened the night before also. I complained to reception who basically told me to go away and never come back.  , England ()
1  This place sucks we arrived into byron bay and the moment we got off the greyhound there was like 10 guys from different hostels screaming at us to stay at their place. we didnt have anything booked so we started asking for prices but the screaming guys said they were full then proceeded to direct all the women from our greyhound into their hostel. so we walked around town and everyone said they were full except nomads odyssey. We were so relieved to find a place. the hostel is real new and clean but clean like a prison. The staff are like guards and all they want to do is get you in your room or out on the street so they dont have to talk to you (but show them you have money and they are all over you). Really unfriendly place. We checked out after two days and went and stayed in another hostel -- which was awesome. As a traveler, Nomads Odyssey is the kinda place that takes something away from my experience. No people, no smiles, no fun.  , Canada ()
1  This is not what backpacking is about! this hostel is too big and unfriendly and it does not have the atmosphere of a normal backpackers. we are a group of three and all the people feel that they can not feel relax here. the staff in reception talked to each other only and not the people asking for help. i asked for directions two times for the same place and was given two very different answers. but none of them were correct. there is a travel desk where they can only give very basic information and i found when i went into another travel shop they had more options and was much cheaper. the location is strange because it is in the centre of town but to go here you must walk in a small alley where no one can see you and you cant see anyone. i did not feel very safe. i am very happy to visit byron bay but i think i just chose the wrong hostel to have a good stay.  , Netherlands ()
