1 Money money money
this is not a hostel but a cheap hotel pretending to be a hostel. hostels usually have friendly staff and are basic, clean, and a home away from home. sadly byron bay nomads have got it wrong. the rooms all look the same. the staff are on set to autopilot. the guests are not like minded travelers but drunken locals. Byron Bay is famous, for saying no to Mcdonalds and other capitalist corporations. sadly nomads slipped through the net. if you stay here you are missing out on a true byron bay experience and giving your money to faceless money grabbing corporations. go away nomads!

1 This place sucks
we arrived into byron bay and the moment we got off the greyhound there was like 10 guys from different hostels screaming at us to stay at their place. we didnt have anything booked so we started asking for prices but the screaming guys said they were full then proceeded to direct all the women from our greyhound into their hostel. so we walked around town and everyone said they were full except nomads odyssey. We were so relieved to find a place. the hostel is real new and clean but clean like a prison. The staff are like guards and all they want to do is get you in your room or out on the street so they dont have to talk to you (but show them you have money and they are all over you). Really unfriendly place. We checked out after two days and went and stayed in another hostel -- which was awesome. As a traveler, Nomads Odyssey is the kinda place that takes something away from my experience. No people, no smiles, no fun.

1 This is not what backpacking is about!
this hostel is too big and unfriendly and it does not have the atmosphere of a normal backpackers. we are a group of three and all the people feel that they can not feel relax here. the staff in reception talked to each other only and not the people asking for help. i asked for directions two times for the same place and was given two very different answers. but none of them were correct. there is a travel desk where they can only give very basic information and i found when i went into another travel shop they had more options and was much cheaper. the location is strange because it is in the centre of town but to go here you must walk in a small alley where no one can see you and you cant see anyone. i did not feel very safe. i am very happy to visit byron bay but i think i just chose the wrong hostel to have a good stay.
