Good
We loved the Cinque Terre, and really this place is ok value for money. I think maybe the apartments can differ (some have views, some don't). Our room was pretty spartan, but at the end of the day it was a cheap place to sleep.

Great with a few small exceptions
I stayed here last week and really liked it. Riomaggoire is a great town in the Cinque Terre to stay in because there aren't a whole lot of tourists. My room was in an apartment and there were two beds but I had the room all to myself even though I booked a dorm bed. The guys in the office were really helpful when I had questions and looked things up online for me like train schedules. I have two small complaints though. One was that my room had no window like the others in the apartment and for some reason it got really hot and extremely humid, even more so than in the rest of the apartment, even when I left the door open. Also, the whole time I was there there was never hot water in the shower so I had to take all cold showers, which isn't that big of a deal. Overall I would say stay at La Dolce Vita.

We stayed here in April 2007. Obviously the entire area is beautiful, so that positive vibe tends to rub off on other parts of the trip. But the good ranking this place gets is deserved. Their place is on the main street, but we ended up staying a few doors down from the main office. The dorm wasn't really a dorm -- three rooms (two with singles and one with a triple). The kitchen was useful so we ended up self catering the whole trip. But the place was clean, easy to get to and in a prime location. You can't argue. Great local pesto too.

We stayed with these guys in July 2006 in a studio apartment room, which was clean and quiet and off the main street in Riomaggiore. We were close to restaurants and corner stores, which sell fantastic fruit in summer, and also a lively bar was close by. Cinque Terre is stunning (make sure you do the cliff walk though) and this was a lovely place to relax.

Amazing! We had a studio apartment in a building overlooking the Med. The kitchenette and the bathroom were spotlessly clean and the room more than adequate. Highly recommend.

I stayed in this hostel for four nights during my stay in Cinque Terre (Summer 2005). As an independent female traveler, I found this hostel, staff and community as a whole to be extremely warm, welcoming, friendly and extremely informative. This hostel is by far the most comfortable, relaxing, safe and beautiful place I have ever stayed at. I certainly will be returning to this hostel well into the future.

Cinque Terre is amazing! We stayed in a wonderful apartment over the main street in Riommaggiore, it was the perfect spot! It was a little loud at night but we enjoyed the nightlife! We started our visit to Italy here and it is a place I will certainly return to. Great place to stay!

This is one of the best places I stayed in all Europe. The guy who runs the place is super friendly and fun. He cut us a deal rather than try to make change, because he was sitting back and enjoying the good life at a nearby cafe. We stayed in a disgusting hostel our first night in Riomaggiore and stayed the next two nights with La dolce Vita and got the best value anywhere. It's a clean, spacious apartment, in the middle of everything good. Stay here if you're going to be in Cinque Terre!!!

Amazing!!! I could stay here forever. It's more like your own small apartment in paradise. If you haven't been to Cinque Terre then do NOT miss out. Big rooms, and a nice kitchen with everything. You have your own bathroom and everything.

La Dolce Vita (the hostel, not the movie) is located in Riomaggiore, the first town of Cinque Terre (aka Five Territories). Cinque Terre is a very beautifuland relaxing area good for sea food, hiking, kayaaking, snorkelling and swimming (although there is only one sandy beach). The saying is that no one building is on the same level as another in Riomaggiore and the dorms offered by la Dolce are spread out all over the town so expect to be climbing A LOT of stairs (I had 118 to get from the town centre to my front door). Backpacks are obviously a better choice here over a suitcase. The rooms are very clean but also vary depending on which apartment you get. It is really a pot luck as to views and location etc but generally all offered a TV (although not all worked), private bathroom and a shared kitchen. Cost per night is 18 to 20 euro.

WHAT A GREAT FIND! We got off the train without a reservation, and for a VERY reasonable price got a fully furnished apartment complete with a CLEAN bathroom, fully equipped kitchen and a nice big bed. (There were actually two more beds in the apartment, but we were not required to pay for more than two people!) The office staff were friendly, and being able to hang our laundry out the window was (ha ha) kind of fun. It's a great location, and a great town. La Dolce Vita is a MUST if you want to stay in the Cinque Terre!

This place is awesome. They have great apartments dotted around Riomaggiore, and most that I saw were tops. Our apartment was big and roomy, with a small but clean bathroom and a good kitchen with fridge and stove. It had a massive deck area with views from the water back up the road into the town and up the hill. It was spectacular. You can watch life on the street go by below. It was open and airy, and a great place to entertain other Busabout travelers! The town is nice (though probably not as nice as Corniglia or Manarola) but the whole area is spectacular. Make sure you do the five-hour walk between towns, and stop and swim and eat gelati at every town. But train it back, you'll know why at the end! This place is like an un-touristy Amalfi Coast, (but much nicer), so don't tell too many people!

What a deal! We got a small, but very clean and comfortable room for very good price, complete with our own bathroom, heater and refridgerator. The office people are friendly and helpful. This was also a nice spot to stay because it seemed to be the quietest of the beach towns in Cinque Terre.

I have visited this hostel in August of 2002 and was very happy. Our room was lovely, full of antiques, and opened up onto a rooftop deck with lounge chairs and a view of the sea. Although we had to share a bathroom with the downstairs apartment, everything was very clean and the owner extremely helpful and friendly. He speaks English also. I will definitely stay at La Dolce Vita on my next trip to Cinque Terre!
