First Class! I visited Zakopane for skiing in March 2009 and stayed at Flamingo and I can't fault it. Everything is brand new and it has been decorated to a high standard. Flamingo is spotlessly clean, the beds are comfortable, there's individual lockers in the rooms (bring your own padlock), and there's a nice kitchen and common room area. There's terminals with free internet or you can use the free wi-fi if you bring your own notebook pc. The staff here are very friendly and hard working. Flamingo is located right in the centre of Zakopane, with plenty of bars, restaurants, and a supermarket right outside. The ski pistes around Zakopane are all a short bus ride from town. All are best suited to beginners or intermediates, although if you're used to skiing in the Alps or the Rockies you will probably be disappointed as they are quite short. The main benefit is the cost. Equipment hire and lift passes are 30 to 50% what you would pay in France or Switzerland, as is the apres!. The best skiing with two large bowls is to be found at Kasprowy Wierch. — Martin , UK (2009-08-24)
