Description
Paradise…. The first ever Backpackers Resort in Bolivia – right in the heart of The Pantanal. Spectacular views, an enormous swimming pool and brand new private and shared accommodation.
Tamengo is more of a resort than a hostel, and with over eleven thousand square meters of land – lose yourself in the choice of activities you have OR the places you could hide and relax!!!
With such close proximity to the Pantanal, relax in shaded hammocks while enjoying the 5-star views and bird watch! You may see Toucans, Parrots or Eagles flying by.
Be careful of vendors offering tickets on the Brazilian side - the train leaves from Bolivia not Brazil, unscrupulous people may charge extra, or take your money and run. We also have all the latest info on any strikes or political activity that may prevent travel - which the other side of the border may not inform you of.
NOTE: If immigration is closed, you can still cross to the border town of Quijarro. You can cross between Quijarro and Corumba without entry and exit stamps – just return when it’s open and don’t go beyond these towns. (You may encounter some Brazilians who tell you that you cannot cross the border – they will earn commission from the accommodation they recommend you to stay in!!)
ACTIVITIES IN THE PANTANAL
- Boat tours observing birds and animals.
- Land/safari tours observing birds and animals.
- Horse riding tours
- Fishing tours – day and night.
- Night-time Caiman tours.
Plus if you are interesting in volunteering or teaching English in the local school, or learning Spanish or Portuguese, we can put you in contact with the right people.

The swimming pool was a really really nice touch and the view from it was stunning. The hostel was clean and the rooms were really big and airy. The TV room was a nice place to chill out in the evenings and escape the mozzies, It even had a very large selection of DVDs.The owners were nice and helpful and had 5 cute dogs running about the place. The only massive let down at this hostel is there is no kitchen to cook your own food, In fact your not even allowed to bring in any of your own food and drinks. This wouldnt be a problem but the food this hostel serves from its very limited menu was awful! Everything was done in a mirowave even the eggs served for breakfast and really bland.I think if this hostel got in a proper chef to provide decent meals it would have been one of the best hostels we´d stayed in.

this is a gorgeous little retreat where you can just kick back and relax. the family who run the place are fantastic and for once this is a real home from home. if you are missing your mum you should def visit here. the pool is brilliant too. just a shame the train was leaving the next day or we would have loved to stay longer.

it´s more like a resort that a hostel. it has a ridiculously massive swimming pool and a good dvd room free from mosquitos. the couple who run it are really nice too, very helpful. the town is just a typically nothing border town so you´ll probably stay 1 or 2 nights max anyway so it´s a good place to chill

Great new hostel. Still only quite new so not all that busy yet but it is set on incredible grounds with beautiful a swimming pool and views over the Pantanal. Walking distance to the train station. A great place to relax before or after the Death Train and a good place to base yourself if you are exploring the Pantanal. More like a resort than a hostel really...reminds me a little of Hostel Inn at Iguacu Falls. Staff are super friendly too.

Absolutely beautiful place. Dorms are clean and nicely decorated. Lovely bar/breakfast area with hammocks to chill out in which overlook the pool. Delicious breakfast and good menu for lunch, dinner and snacks. Very friendly and helpful staff who made us feel at home. Didnt meet any other travellers here as a fairly new place and we visited in low season. Would definately recommend this place though.

This hostel is located in a terrible town, so you will probably want to stay as mch time as possible in your hostel, and this place offers lots of entertainment possibilities, like a swimming pool.
