great place only one better in the area. On the ocean, clean, very cheap. and the finest people you will meet. — mark canada (2006-03-02) ive been on the road many years now and have found this humble abode here in kupang at lavalon. Edwin is excellent. i feel like family here and ive had a great stay here. i did the east timor visa run and it was nice to return here again. its a great hostel, most travelers that come through here stay there and its clean and friendly. the bar is a good hang out place to chill and meet people and he has a great collection of music, now even better as i gave him loads of my own. i hope you make it here, you wont regret it! — natalie (2006-02-17) If you go anywhere in West Timor or NTT you will hear about Edwin and Ony's homestay called Lavalon. Both these guys speak perfect English and nothing was too much trouble for them. The beds are all brand new, the house has been totally painted this year. It is typical indonesian style but comfortable and clean as can be - and hands down the cheapest place in town.
Frengky and Ony were happy to point us in the right direction (and told us what LOCAL price was) as well as acting as tour-guides and travel agents. Ony took us to the Crystal Caves - an underground pool deep inside a cave that still manages to be sunlit - its quite an experience and something you have to do if you go there.
