5 This is a wonderful hostel in every way. You really feel like part of the family. The rooms are clean, cosy and great value for money. Yang was an excellent and caring host.....she also looked after me when i had food poisoning for 2 days (given to me by a restaurant down the road). I will be back...most definitely. I wish i could live here.   — Darren Bloomfield (2012-01-16) Hostelbookers
5 Honestly one of the best places we've stayed in 4 months of travel - great staff, great food, great location, just a wonderful place to be!   — louisa stewart (2011-10-29) Hostelbookers

4 1. The warm and effusive staff 2. Free wifi 3. Excellent food of Vegan variety especially the breakfast and cappucino 4. Freebies - like handmade Map, internet at the restaurant and keenness to serve as a warm host (one of the staff escorted us to the taxi stand on the way back) All in all we felt like home   — AYAN CHATTERJEE (2011-10-09) Hostelbookers
5 Great location in Shuhe Old Town. Very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Free bike use was also nice.   — Customer review (2011-07-26) Hostelbookers
5 I loved that it's situated in Shu he Old town, away from LiJiang old town. It's a beautiful place and the owner, Peter, is very helpful and friendly. Clean and comfotable and reasonably priced!   — Amie Dolan (2011-07-26) Hostelbookers
5 very helpful and friendly staff, VERY good food, a place with a soul   — Customer review (2011-07-26) Hostelbookers
5 Awesome atmosphere, great place to relax and chill out. Great vegetarian food (I am not a vegetarian). Rooms are very clean, very nicely decorated. The whole place looks and feels cozy. Super nice and helpful owner! Thanks, Peter!   — Luke Callanan (2011-07-06) Hostelbookers
5 Amazing character and service. Best hostel I have been to in my life.   — Jonas Medin (2011-07-05) Hostelbookers
5 Absolutely the most friendly and helpful people we've ever met at a hostel. Peter and his girlfriend were both more than happy to talk with you for hours about just about anything. They helped us plan a trip around town and to Tiger Leaping Gorge. They also serve a vegetarian dinner and lunch every day fr 20 yuan. The food is prepared by an in-house cook, and it is wonderful. We also fell in love with their western breakfast. The rooms were also very clean and well-kept too.   — Customer review (2011-06-23) Hostelbookers
5 It´s a little from the very crowded ancient town of Lijiang. We love this place!   — Customer review (2011-06-07) Hostelbookers
5 Peter, who runs the hostel, was extremely helpful in suggesting things to do around Shuhe and in organising transport. I was also late in returning from the Tiger Leaping Gorge walk and had missed the family meal, but he had set aside some food for me, knowing that I would be returning, and I was truly thankful and appreciative for that!   — James Clark (2011-06-03) Hostelbookers
5 The staff is very nice and helpful. The rooms and sheets/towels are clean. The food is very tasty. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy. The hostel is in Shuhe old town, which is just 20 Yuan taxi ride from Lijiang old town. Shuhe is not so touristic, but still beautiful. Maybe the best hostel we have ever stayed.   — Customer review (2011-06-03) Hostelbookers
5 This is the best hostel in China! I booked a private room with private bath, and upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to find that we had our own balcony too! Everything was clean and the Tibetan style housing gave it a great flair. There were electric blankets to keep us warm. The hot water can take a while to come on, but now you know, turn it on and read for 3-4 minutes, and the shower will be piping hot! Everyone was so nice and helpful - they gave us maps, walked us to the ATM, and booked tickets. When they booked the tickets, they also let us know how much of a surcharge they tacked on, and we really appreciate that kind of transparency. We rented bikes for only 10 yen each for the entire day (not the best quality, but they took us from point A to B). My husband was craving some western-style food so we had breakfast there once and it was oh so yummy! Of note: Do not pay ANYTHING at the gate closest to the hostel. The taxi driver tried to convince us that we needed to pay 50yen to enter, but I had read about this the night before and adamantly refused. We walked into Shuhe no problem. Other than the above annoyance, I highly highly recommend this hostel.   — Customer review (2011-05-04) Hostelbookers
5 Our stay at the 'guest house" was great. They cooked vegetation food only. We could eat elsewhere if we wanted to but it was nice to know that if we got tired of guessing we could count on good food there. It was clean and meditative. The owners were helpful and they spoke English. If we needed help making any kind of plans, they helped us. they also waited for every guest to return before retiring. Wonderful place to stay.   — Customer review (2011-04-18) Hostelbookers
5 Absolutely the best place I've stayed in China! The guesthouse is in shuhe old town, which in my opinion is much quieter and less touristy than the lijiang old town.I definitely love shuhe more than lijiang old town. The onwer and the staffs are very very nice and friendly, they are not stingy in sharing their experience :)they were also helpful in booking my transportations and helping me in organizing my itinerary! The place also has a nice and comfy meeting place for travellers, and great food too!I will definitely come back. Don't worry about travelling during winter, this place provides heater and heating pad for bed.   — Len Foong Koong (2011-01-02) Hostelbookers
5 Good information about the area and trips (Tiger leaping gorge). Nice location in the little village north of Lijiang. We also stayed in Lijiang itself and Suhe had more character.   — Customer review (2010-12-25) Hostelbookers
5 The hostel is located in Shu he - a smaller version of the main Lijiang old town. We found this location to be much better than the Lijiang Old Town, which is essentially an extended shopping mall in quaint buildings (Shu-he is heading this way but there are still pockets that are fab). If you follow the directions the hostel is very easy to get to and transport to the hostel is cheap - 2 yuan to the main town. The rooms and service are great and the food is superb. If you are a bit over restaurant food, the food provided at the hostel is cheap, very healthy and delicious. Normally we don't eat any hostel food but this is an exception, if you have the time share a meal with the staff - it's a must. The staff were super friendly and very helpful. We would definitely stay here again.   — luke jones (2010-11-20) Hostelbookers
5 By far the best hostel we stayed in a 3 week tour in yunnan. friendly, fun and helpful hosts, super food and rooms.   — Customer review (2010-10-14) Hostelbookers
5 Really good young people run this place. It makes one optimistic about the future!Aside from that, it is a short 2 Yuan ride by minibus from the centre of Lijiang which compensates for it not being in the heart of things. It is in a delightful village and closer to Yulong Mountain. Bookings can be made for Impressions and the top quality vegetarian food which guests are invited to share, buffet style, with the staff is really great value. Go there and see and don't pay the 50 Yuan demanded at the entrance to Shuhe - this is a total scam.   — trevor stanaway (2010-04-22) Hostelbookers
