The Hostelz.com Review
Feetup Hostels-Yellow Nest Hostel is part of a series of hostels in Spain. Check-in is quick and efficient; the front desk accepts credit cards. The receptionists are friendly and helpful, and speak both Spanish and English -- they offer plenty of info about the various sites and tours of Barcelona.
The Location
The hostel is located near the Badal station on the Linea 5 of the Barcelona metro. The directions on the website are a bit ambiguous, but we eventually found it. From the metro you can quickly get anywhere in Barcelona. There are several supermarkets and many restaurants in the area.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The dorm rooms have bunk beds made of steel poles that make a bit of noise if there is any movement. This isn’t a problem if you have a petite, sound sleeper on the other half of your bunk, but otherwise it could be an issue. There are large lockers in the rooms, big enough for a medium-size suitcase, a backpack, and a few other things; you must bring your own lock. The bathrooms aren’t at all attractive, but they are kept clean, which can’t be taken for granted in a hostel. Towels are not provided; if you want one, you must rent it from the hostel. There are separate male and female shower/bathroom facilities on each floor. The shower shuts off after about a minute, after which you must push the button again. There are no issues with water temperature.
Common Spaces
There is a large common area, with one main room (which features computers that you can rent for internet access; many chairs, tables, and couches; and snack machines); a game room with a pool and foosball table; a kitchen with utensils, as well as refrigerator and shelf space, and a terrace upstairs.
Smoking is allowed on the rooftop terrace, and in the game room after 10 p.m., when the terrace closes. This is unfortunate, as the smoke infiltrates the entire hostel at various levels of intensity. It’s a shame that the Yellow Nest tries to espouse progressive views on issues such as ecology, but lags several years behind on this basic health issue. The hostel has free Wi-Fi, which sends a strong signal throughout the building. If you need something printed, you can email it to the front desk and they will print it for you for a per-page price. Yellow Nest sells breakfast in the morning for (similar to the breakfast that you might get for free at other hostels) and also has paella and sangria for sale after 9 p.m.
Summary
Barcelona is a beautiful city and has rightfully become as popular with Spanish tourists as the capital city of Madrid. Yellow Nest provides a good place to experience this city. In the end, the only issue with this hostel is the indoor smoking area and the squeaky beds. If this doesn’t bother you, then there will mostly likely be no issues with the Yellow Nest. If it does, then you may wish to nest somewhere else.

How is Yellow Nest Barcelona rated on other websites?
The hostel was so clean and felt really safe, it wasn't right in the heart of town but its right next to a metro stop which was very convenient. There was always night time activities going on if you wanted to join in, but it was quiet enough to sleep when you wanted too!

I liked the hostel with the exception of two events:
The day I arrived I had someone sleeping in my bed with someone else. The last day I asked if I could stay in a single bed with my girlfriend and it was denied.
Also, the kitchen has almost no ventilation and someone stole food from me.

my friend and i felt very safe for the 3 nights we spent here; we didnt even use locks on our lockers. the location was a little out of the way and not that close to downtown or the beach which is only really bothersome at night when the metro stops running. very friendly staff! and everything was really clean/comfortable.

Hostel Yellow Nest Barcelona,
its a hostel, without the downsides of a normal hostel, its fairly clean, it has great staff (I work in five star hotels and the service in this hostel was very good) I would definetly recommend this.
Only thing, maybe an extra fridge, it was pretty overloaded. And fix the downstairs bathroom, third shower, the spirt is a little weak.

very nice and helpfull staff, very very clean and well kept, nice terrace on the roof, a little bit out of the town center but there's a metro and a supermarket near + taxis to and from the center cost around 9euros. a litlle far from the beach, but over all a great place! i definetly recommend it.
