Casa Blanca Hostel is a recently renovated hostel conveniently located in Cali. It has a calm and quiet atmosphere with nice rooms and good facilities.
The Location
Casa Blanca is located in the Santa Monica Sector of Cali with lots of shops nearby. It´s close to two supermarkets and about a fifteen-minute walk from the Chipichape Shopping Mall. It´s within walking distance of the bars and restaurants on Avienda 6N and the area seems safe enough even at night. It looks pretty close to the bus station on a map but it´s best to take a taxi. You can easily catch a bus or taxi to the old section of Cali to see the sights. Overall this is a very good location.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Both the dorms and private rooms are clean, light, and well looked after. The dorms have lockers to keep your valuables safe and the mattresses are rock hard and the pillows thin. The bathrooms are nice and the showers hot but a bit average.
Common Spaces
The hostel has a nice lounge with a large TV and lots of DVDs to choose from as well as a small book exchange. There is an outside balcony with a couple of plastic chairs where you can sit and eat or have a drink. There is also a dining room with a couple of tables and chairs where you can eat your meals. The kitchen is nice, clean, and well equipped, with ice and cold drinking water available. Wi-Fi is free and there are three computers for guest use (however an internet cafe at the supermarket down the road is cheaper). They have a lot of information and the staff are helpful.
Summary
Overall it´s a good, clean hostel; it doesn´t have too much of an atmosphere but is located in a good part of town and is a nice place to relax and enjoy Cali and the surrounding areas.
