I really liked this place! Very nice people staying there, you feel at home! I stayed at the 12 persons bedroom and it was completely fine, it could just get a bit cold at some points but nothing a sweater could not manage!
People working there were very nice and helpful and location is ok. — Anonymous , argentina (2012-03-12)

Amazing -- clean and fun This place is great, It is a more expensive then other hostels but it is defiantly worth it. you get a lovely home cooked meal, and breakfast. clean beds, the owners are so friendly. i remember going there a few years ago when it was a dump but they have made some great renovations, it has come up heaps, they are getting a drinks license and do private parties. — Auss , Australia (2009-06-09)
Very disappointing! After staying at Bells Beach Lodge in 2004 and 2005 we decided to return there in December 2008. Little did we know there had been a change of ownership and this change has greatly impacted on the enjoyment of the stay. The strange renovations have made the place feel awkward and far less inviting -- there are fewer showers and toilets and where there used to be a communal lounge room with TV there are dining tables and chairs! This place used to be social and we kept coming back because of this! On our second day at the property we were told that we were not allowed to consume any alcohol on the premises! We were shocked at this but didn't say anything.
We then bought food and decided to cook something for dinner in the kitchen but were then told that we weren't allowed to use the kitchen at all -- these facilities were not available! What kind of place had this turned into? A friend of ours who lived in Melbourne drove to Torquay to meet us on this same day and we were then told that we weren't allowed any guests in the premises at any time. The lady that now owns this place is rude! This place has certainly gone downhill and we will never, ever be staying there again! It's such a shame because it used to be such a quality place! — Jacqueline , Australia (2009-03-17)
Sh*t this place is sh*t, if you have a couple of drinks she will kick you out into your car, with no blankets and make you freeze to death. and her sons are liars, he said that he was working there and was getting free accommodation. mate found out that he was the owners son. people staying there were good. — marc , australia (2008-10-01)

This is a great little hostel, good location, relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Great place to start the Great Ocean Road. — Vicki (2006-01-21)

There's a huge kitchen and a lounge with TV. You can't go wrong; this is the best accommodation on the GOR [Great Ocean Road] for sure. — Heather (2005-02-24)

I loved the friendly atmosphere and the thick and warm doonas that protect you from the cold, victorian summers... — Steve (2004-02-08)
