Purple Pig Stars is a backpackers haven offering camping and bungalows on the party island of Ios, run by very friendly staff.
The Location
Purple Pig Camping Stars is located along Mylapotas Beach on the party island of Ios just a couple of kilometers from the main village and ferry port. Purple Pig offers pick-up from the ferry port, but it's always a good idea to let them know when you are booked to arrive so they know if they need to meet you. Otherwise there is an hourly public bus from the port and village that stops fifty meters down the road. You have watersports, clubs, cafes, and shops all along the beach, which means you really could not get a better location for relaxing.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Purple Pig has a range of accommodation options from which to choose -- if you are on a strict budget you can use the camping areas with your own tent or rent one. Or if you like a little more luxury then you have the option of staying in a bungalow with single and double private rooms and four-bed dorm rooms. The dorm rooms are very clean and spacious and have an en-suite bathroom, although the showers in the bathrooms can be a little annoying as they have no hook or anything to hang the shower tap, so you have to hold it the whole time and the bathroom door didn't stay closed. There are also no lockers in the rooms but there are some in reception. All rooms seem to also have their own balcony or patio seating area, so you can enjoy the gorgeous Ios sun.
Common Spaces
Purple Pig has a great swimming pool and bar area, which makes it very easy to find great places to chill out. They also offer free Wi-Fi, which is available around the bar and reception area. There is also a mini market so you don't have to go far to find food and other supplies. And Ios being the party island, Purple Pig has many party and live music nights to keep you entertained.

Purple Pig Stars is the perfect place for anyone on a budget who likes to have a good time that is not as full on as some of the other resorts on Ios.

Perfect stay. — Gregory (2006-08-16) They came and picked us up at a bar after we missed our shuttle from the port to the hostel. Then they brought coffee and snacks to our room. In the morning we were chartered into town, after being invited into the house by the owner for breakfast. And once it was time for our ferry out, we were chartered there, also.
