Hostelz.com's Review
Euro Youth Hostel is very large and houses many backpackers. This is an ideal hostel to stay at if you are interested in meeting other backpackers and like to party.

The Location

This hostel is only a block from the main train station and a ten-minute walk to the main shopping strip of Munich and the iconic church. It is next door to two other youth hostels and feels relatively safe at night, with the exception of some seedy stores another block down.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The dorm rooms are large; there are five floors of dorms with two toilets and two showers per gender on each floor. The doors have electronic locks and in-room lockers large enough to store a suitcase. The showers have a changing area with a shelf on which to put clothes and towel and the shower itself has a shelf for soap and shampoo bottles. One toilet is large, with lots of space and one toilet is cramped with almost no space to turn around.

Common Spaces

The common areas are the bar and the nook off the bar on the ground floor. Even in the nook off the bar, there is music playing constantly and the only quiet space is in the dorm rooms. Both common areas are large with lots of chairs and tables. There is a TV in the back of the bar along with the book exchange. There is no kitchen in this hostel due to German laws. There is a small microwave and a hot water heater in the nook off the bar and breakfast is served in the bar in the morning for a fee. This is a social hostel, since the bar is the main common area. Fellow travelers are friendly and ready to party, starting with the bar before moving on to others in Munich.

Summary

This hostel is like a hotel with its electronic key cards and lack of a kitchen. The rooms are spacious and the bar is a fun place to meet fellow travelers, but there are not many places to be if you are seeking quiet.

Euro Youth Hostel Reviews from the Web

4   Great bar, great location Excellent location, ridiculously close to the train station and easily within walking distance of the centre if Munich. The staff were very friendly and pointed out some good tours to go on and answered any questions knowledgeably and cheerfully. Whilst the rooms are pretty unexciting they're clean and bed linen is changed daily -- nondescript but nothing to complain about there. The highlight of the hostel is the bar which had a great atmosphere every night and lots of people socialising, even if it was the low season. 2euro augustiner beer until 9pm definitely helps things along. All in all, really good, central hostel but perhaps lacks differentiating factors that would make it really excellent.  , age 23, UK ()
5   Very clean Probably the cleanest hostel I've stayed at. Super friendly staff. Really nice accommodations. Good lockers in the room. Nice bar downstairs but not many people there. Probably they were all at the beer halls at Oktoberfest.  , USA ()
5   Benchmark hostel If only all hostels were up to this kind of standard.  , Hong Kong ()
4   Great atmosphere The location was excellent, so close to Munich Hbf. The atmosphere was great, the bar offered good deals for people to hang around. The breakfast was good, although it could be a little bit cheaper. The staff was so helpful, I got my discount ticket for the Dachau concentration camp. I don't give 5 out of 5 often so 4 is a really high rating for me. The only thing that brought it down was the noise at night by drunk people since there are 12 people in one room. (I really liked that they had a little curtain for some privacy on your bed.)  , age 21, Australia ()
5   Nice hostel, literally beside the main train station We had a good stay at Euro Youth Hostel. Our room was clean and nice. The bar had good cheap beer. Breakfast was not too expensive for what you got. Right beside the central train station.  , age 24, Canada ()
4   Good Price, Good Accommodations The breakfast was a bit pricy and it would have been nice if the towels were complimentary. Besides that, great location, good rooms. The free city tour was great and the help/info at the front desk was great. I'd recommend you guys.  , American ()
5   Great This hostel was the best quality I've stayed at! If youre going to Munich, you should definitely go to this hostel! The rooms are extremely clean and the staff make our bed for you, which is nice especially if you get into Munich late, as I did. also, there are two sinks in room and lights above each with a light above each bed as well. This is an extremely clean hostel -- the bathrooms are very nice and spotless with great spacious showers and changing areas. There is also free Wi-Fi everywhere in the hostel. There is an area to store your luggage there, and the reception is twenty-four/seven. Security cards are needed for the elevators, stairs, and rooms themselves. There is also a bar in hostel which was open pretty late, at least until 3 a.m. The breakfast was also good enough with a big screen TV to catch up on news on -- a welcome comfort while interrailing. Oh! And staff are super nice and helpful. Free printing as well. Also big luggage lockers in room -- only gripe about this hostel, there were only four lockers for a five-bed room. But much recommended.  , USA ()
5   Fantastic! I and two friends stayed here in December last year for a few days and we all agreed the Euro Youth Hotel far exceeded our expectations. The prices are really great and the facilities numerous. The security is top notch with access to bedrooms and dorms restricted with electronic key cards, which also block access to even the staircase and lift to prevent anyone wandering about the place who shouldn't be there. The rooms still have lockable lockers for which you bring your own padlock. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the building and internet access on PCs downstairs. The bar is lively and packed and the staff friendly and helpful, not to mention fluent in numerous languages. The beds were clean and very comfortable and gave even me, a very light sleeper, a good night's sleep. The location couldn't be better -- the main station has an entrance virtually opposite Senefelderstraße and so is just a few minutes walk away. You have main rail, tram, and underground links from here and also just a short five- to ten-minute walk from the city centre. There are loads of shops, arcades, and places to eat-in or take-away in the roads immediately around the hostel and a large Easy Internet centre minutes away. In short, everything you could need and right where you need it. An even larger group of us are going back this year for sixteen days and I can't wait! I couldn't recommend this hostel more highly!  , British ()
