Lourdes Hostel

Lourdes Hostel is an interesting little hostel, attracting different clients than the others in Rosario. This is partly due to the fact that they have music workshops in the lounge here, as well as affiliations with plenty of the theatre companies that come to the town. It gives it a more cosmopolitan feel.

The Location

Location is very good, on one of the main streets in Rosario. This makes it close to the shops as well as the river. The nightlife in Rosario is very spread out, and the bus station is in a very strange area, so a few bus/taxi journeys may still be required though.

Rooms and Bathrooms

Rooms are really nice with dorms containing a mixture of single beds and bunk beds (four to six beds in most dorms) and with huge bay windows which stretch from the floor to the very-high ceilings. These provide plenty of light as well as some good ventilation. There are also two big bathrooms to use, which are more like bathrooms you'd find in someone's house rather than a hostel.

Common Spaces

There are a couple of kitchens where people tend to congregate but there isn't a great deal of space in them. Only three people would fit around any of these tables. Thankfully then, for bigger groups, there is a lounge with large dining table and television. However, this is sometimes available when there are music classes. There are also a couple of outside smoking areas, which are actually quite nice anyway to do some reading or enjoy a bit of sunshine.

Summary

This is a really interesting hostel, and it's different than many of the hostels in Argentina that are owned by Argentineans. It's not somewhere you can easily relax, or where there will be huge parties, but there is an energy which makes you want to explore, and it is very comfortable, so it has perhaps found a good balance.
