Hostelz.com's Review
Lisbon Chillout Hostel is quirky and cool and attracts those like-minded in the open sensibility. The Amazon beauty that inspires the place to be an easy going retreat from the beats of hostel row makes Chillout that cozy place where you can join in or fade out as they need. Staffers are welcoming and quick to assist the curious traveler, as well as make things right when things go awry.

The Location

Situated apart from the masses of most other hostels in Lisbon, Chillout is well located near public transport and easily walkable from the metro. Finding the hostel is a cinch and local markets, post office, and banks are nearby. The hostel is in a quiet neighborhood, but be prepared to traverse stairs to the guest kitchen. The hostel is not wheelchair accessible.

Rooms and Bathrooms

Dorm rooms are mixed-sex double bunks. Beds are clean and comfortable and rooms are spacious with windows. Decor is eclectic and amenities are functional. Lockers are available for free. Bathrooms are clean, but can be a bit cramped at times while water is hot and pressure is good. Toilets are clean and well stocked. Electronic room keys are provided.

Common Spaces

The common areas are excellent and a good place to meet and greet fellow travelers. One area contains two internet computers for guest use; Wi-Fi is free and swift. There are two kitchens, though only one contains a six-burner stovetop, microwave, and the like for preparing most meals. Two refrigerators and freezers are available for guests and cook and dishware are acceptable. The other common area is a comfy-couch-laden room with indirect lighting and a pleasant feeling, but be cautioned, smoking -- the Dutch kind -- happens at this hostel. There is also a large HDTV for guests and several English-language stations. Overall, Chillout lives up to its name.

Summary

This is a great base for exploring Lisbon, and the best budget accommodation in town, with all-you-can-eat breakfast (deli-ham/cheese/toast/Nutella/cereal/coffee/tea/milk/butter/jam) included. Chillout lives up to its name, and provides many opportunities to meet other guests or simply do your own thing. Get a good night's sleep, have a sufficient breakfast, hit the town, and repeat.

Hostelz.com Guest Reviews
3   Friendly people, comfortable living area & bedding The walk from the station seems a lot longer than 600m, and is a little uphill. Breakfast is toast & cereal. Lots of colourful couches in the living room. Cheap dinners cooked by the staff are optional. Small bathroom/toilet.  , Australian ()
