What a start! Best deal in town! Came directly from Norway -- socks in sandals the whole shibang. Same night Jamie fixed me up with two Swedish girls. Stayed there for two weeks, best start I could have for my 2 years in oz — GG , Norwegian (2011-06-17)

Nomads was a quite and relaxing hostel to stay in for the two nights that we were there in December 2004. It is very well located in the centre of Newcastle and only a short walk away from an impressive beach. Bars and clubs are again in easy walking distance and I would thoroughly recommend making the effort to get down to Queens Wharf and eat at a place called The Brewery. It looks expensive but really isn't. The hostel is let down in terms of socialising as the communal area was always nearly deserted and there is no bar. However, definite plus points are the comfortable dorms with en-suite bathrooms, a large computer room in the basement for reasonably cheap internet access, and the type of traveler that stays there as I met some really nice people in my mixed dorm. The city of Newcastle itself has a reputation for a great nightlife but I cannot vouch for that, even on the Saturday when we first arrived. Apart from this, definitely visit here as a stopover before Sydney and recharge your batteries in the quiet and comfortable surroundings of this hostel. — Howlin' Mad , British (2007-04-01)

We stayed at this hostel for three nights and it's lovely. great location and wicked staff -- friendly and helpful. they also do free BBQ's and pizza! The only drawback is that there's no laundry and no lift, but it's a small price to pay if you're not here for long -- there's laundrettes nearby anyway. It's clean and the showers are good. I'd say it's a good way to spend your money. — Hazel and Nick (2006-10-14)

I stayed here four to five weeks, and had a good time. It's in a beautiful spot, but the manager, Jamie, turned out to be a total idiot! — Kris (2004-12-02)
