The hostel was so close to the beach and shops, so that was great. The staff were really cool and went out of their way to help me during my stay and helped me to book all our tours. The rooms were clean and I loved the en-suite bathrooms.

I really liked the place, because it was a bit of a retreat from all the hectic traveling. There is enough to do, like the scooteroo tour, which is really awesome. It's a lovely place to stay for a couple of days. I rated the safe and secure as average, because the doors didn't have any locks, so, stuff could have been stolen easily. But you leave your valuables at reception and one of the few places where you're certain people won't steal anything is 1770 backpackers. The staff is very friendly as well. :) Their service was really good and they were always happy to help.

Nice hostel and very clean and close to the Greyhound station but there are no locks on the dorm room doors and so security is a problem and there is nowhere to lock away any valuables

NOT IN 1770 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this place is actually located in agnes waters, which is a very nice little town but prepare to pay if you want to get into 1770, there is NO bus, NO rental of cycle bikes and its $50 a day for a crappy car !!! Also there is no air con and our fan was useless which in a dorm of 10 people made sleep pretty darn hard ! It has good location to the beach and everything you need, if you just want to chill then go for it. Also its a Keyless hostel, meaning anyone from the street can easily enough walk in and take anything they wish that isnt in the safety deposit box .... staff are very friendly and the atmosphere with other guests is very nice

There are no staff onsite from about 8.30pm till 8am, and no locks on the dorm doors. The kitchen also closes when the staff member leaves. However the dorms are very clean and the ensuites very good. Very close to the shops and beach.

great location few mins from shops/restaurants and also the greyhound stop. Only 5 min walk to the beach. The driver who picked us up from the bus was really friendly and even took us on a mini tour showing us the view to the beach and bays also spotting some wallabies!only weird thing about the hostel, no keys for the rooms!

Good location, good staff. No lock's on the door's. First time i've come across that. $5 charge to store your luggage before you catch the bus is another strange one.
