I arrived at the hostel at about 7am, way to early for an open reception. I was let in by another guest and welcomed with some coffee. I was then able to dump my bag down and go into central Kyoto. The other guests were great fun and I felt really at home. The location is also perfect and I got a really good nights sleep. I would stay here again.

The staff were SUPER friendly and helpful. Also, it was really close to Kiyomizudera temple - which is my favorite place in Kyoto. Gion seems like a pretty good location for a hostel. Also, our dorm was spacious.
