Nice bed/roof, bad attitude, dirty bathroom, 1 toilet for 20 ppl The good things -- near little india, nice and clean beds, and a nice-sized locker -- it will be an extra dollar upon arrival per night. The bad: surprising, when first checking in, we decided we would give our money to someone else for the rest of our stay in Singapore due to the rudeness of the staff. There's an attitude, and it's not one of being helpful or friendly; it's more like give me your money, here's your $hit, these are our rules, and f off but not in a good way. It's not that they leave you to do your own thing, which is fine, it's that they're just really negative with you and you don't even have to speak to them to find it (there's notes on the walls like when you're using the toilet, that are really unnecessary). the kind of people you don't want to give your hard-earned money to. You can give your money to nice people with better facilities for the same or less money in Singapore, and we were able to (use a hostel booking website to see price outright). Also, while there are about 20 people in the ~ 20 mixed dorm beds, there is only one toilet though I won't say that even that one is working properly because one has to spend about 7 minutes figuring out how to make it flush since a button or flush won't do it (nor does the standard pull of a chain do the trick), which means you often find urine or other surprises there. And while you will find harassment posted on the wall for not flushing (saying annoying things like they'll kick your a$$ and calling people donkeys), you won't find any directions on being helpful anywhere on how to flush nor did they mention that there was an issue with the toilet or that there was only 1 working-ish. The room did smell terrible (probably because of the contents contained in more than 20 backpacks though and not because of the room itself). However, cleanliness was a real issue in the bathrooms -- it really is filthy. Also, more a convenience issue but not so much of a problem, you'll have to hold the shower head in your hand as you shower and then rest it on the pipe where you turn the water on (there's no placement for it). And if you plan to stay multiple nights, book before you get there because they'll charge you more once you're there per night (though that's what we learned of the next hostel we stayed at so I think it's a common practice. Good luck! I wouldn't recommend this place because atmosphere and attitude matter. Almost forgot, internet is completely unreliable, and very slow when working. Not recommended if internet is important to you. — Tiffany , USA (2010-03-19)
