Hostel Alibi B11

Hostel Alibi B11 is one of three operated in Piran under the name of Alibi with the street address as the second part of the name. Although the location is good and Piran is a great little town, the hostel is very rundown and dated -- it needs renovation very badly. This is the first year that this house has been opened as a hostel. It is directly across the street from Alibi B14. The staff go back and forth between the hostels so finding someone to help is not easy. You have to call ahead to have someone open the door for you -- be prepared to wait.

The Location

The location is in the heart of old town Piran. If coming in on the bus walk along the ocean to the Tartini square, go across it towards Trubarjeva Street and then walk up this street until you enter the First of May Square. Go across it to Bonifacijeva street. That is the B11 address. About forty meters from the hostel is a diving center and there are shops nearby. The seaport is within easy walking distance. The location is just a few minutes' walk to all the best restaurants and bars and the ocean activities.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The bedrooms are double beds with two rooms to a floor. They share one bathroom per floor. The beds are not new but the linen is fresh. The bathrooms are old and have the minimum equipment. A major renovation is needed. No amount of cleaning can cover up the smell that has accumulated over time. The appearance is that the hostel was rushed into service before it was renovated and made ready for guests.

Common Spaces

There is a large common area on the roof with a terrace. The view of the rooftops and water is excellent. There is no other common area and no cooking facilities. There is no laundry and the internet is across the street at the sister hostel -- so if you want to use the internet, you have to cross the street. There are no maps or excursions organized. This is not a place to meet other travelers and hang out. People seem to just sleep here and then enjoy the town of Piran.

Summary

This hostel would be best for just being in an ideal location with a place to sleep. Other than the rooftop, there isn't any area to meet people or have fun.
