The Hostelz.com Review
An HI hostel with a great view over the Elbe River and walking distance from the Reeperbahn red-light district; featuring clubs, bars, shows, theatres, cabarets, and a casino. The hostel offers a bar and three eating rooms including a balcony. Everything seems to be exceptionally clean, and the primary guests appear to be school children from around the region.

3  Nice View, but unfriendly stuff This might be the Youth Hostel with the best view in germany! But the staff knows the fact and acts this way. I was checked-in in a high price room even I booked the cheap dorm. The front desk stuff didn't like my complain and told me, "Your new room has about 50 degrees Celsius, but now you have to take it." The room wasn't this hot and had only two more beds the the one I had before (about 5 Euro difference). Anyway, I did not have any contact with that person afterwards, so my stay was very fun!  , german ()
4  Amazing view! Very nice and clean hostel. Amazing view of the biggest port in Europe! Easy to get to, very close to S-Bahn station. The downside is the noise, because they have school/classes there on a trip, but the noise usually stops around 9 p.m. Overall good impression, would definitively recommend!  , Canadian ()
4  Good Nice location near waterfront and a metro station. Clean and spacious dorms with lockers.  , Canadian ()
5  The hostel is absolutely great. This side shows old photos. The hostel has a big reception area with a video wall. All rooms are en-suite rooms. This is by far one of the best hostels in Germany! We stayed in a double room with a great harbour view.  , german ()
2  There are loads and loads of families staying here, so it's not great if you'd like to meet young backpackers. The woman who works at reception is a bit of a bulldog, very strict. Otherwise it was very clean and the breakfast was good, but it's in a bit of a quiet area.  ()
5  This place has first class fellow travelers, and hoops fans if you ever play in this neck of the woods book in here. It's 10 minutes from Reeperbahn/St. Pauli and the football stadium. The best!  ()
4  We stopped in Hamburg for a few days following the Wacken Open Air Metal festival. This hostel was clean, reasonably comfortable and had good facilities such as washing machines, lockers, pool table, giant chessboard, etc. If you hang out at the hostel long enough you'll probably meet some interesting people. Didn't try the bar/restaurant but the free breakfast was filling, if not spectacularly appetizing. The staff are pretty unobtrusive as a rule but they do insist that you leave your room to allow it to be cleaned. This hostel is located at the top of a massive set of stairs!  ()
3  Very clean hostel in a fairly good location. There's a curfew at 2 a.m. however, until 6:30, which is annoying given Hamburg's nightlife. (Then again, you could just stay at a disco all night and go to the fish market in the morning). Also there's a lockout from 10-12:30. Breakfast is only from 7-8:30, a bit early. There tends to be a lot of school groups. I probably will look for somewhere else to stay next time.  ()
5  There's been a big renovation here! The hostel now has a big lobby with a wonderful view at the harbor, and it's completely renovated. I stayed in a four-bed dormitory with an en suite bathroom. We had a great view of the ships. This hostel is by far the best in Hamburg!!  ()
4  A nice, big and busy hostel. It's a good place to stop on the way to or from Scandinavia, near the metro station and the harbour.  ()
4  It's a nice hostel. Clean, well-organized and great view of the river. The staff is quite friendly. It's 10 minutes away from main station by metro or city train. It's very close to harbor and red light district/pub area as well. You can easily reach bus tour or boat tour in the opposite side of metro station. I will come back if I visit Hamburg next time.  ()
4  It is a very safe and clean place. The staff is very friendly and the location perfect.  ()
