Total Rubbish The owner/manager/thug who runs the place kicked me out for a bad review, on the day I paid for a week's stay, thus robbing me of $200 on the spot. This means that he found my review, which was supposed to be anonymous and kicked me out for it, violating I don't know how many privacy laws. It's as impersonal as the monolith from 2010 a space odyssey; the beds are uncomfortable, the showers are too small and are always wet, there is nowhere to keep your clothes dry and the key cards never work, if yours does not work, they charge you for a new one. It's also incredibly expensive, and its right next to a petrol station, so at 2am when a truck needs to fill up guess who gets to put up with their noise. — Jim , South Africa (2010-02-01)

Awesome!!!!! What an awesome hostel this is. Perfect location, only 250mtrs from the main transit centre. A big supermarket right across the street. I intended to only stay for 3 nights, but ended up staying for 2 months. I still cant get over how spectacular the views are from level 3 and level 4. And the hostel is so clean!! The staff is absolutely awesome. They helped me find a job, they made sure I knew what to see in Brisbane. Brisbane is an awesome city and Chill Backpackers absolutely does Brisbane proud. Unlike some of the other skanky hostels in the area. — Pete , Holland (2010-01-08)

Located in Upper Roma Street, this hostel is the newest (at least according to their information) in Brisbane. Chill Backpackers is clean, funky and affordable.
When you arrive in Brisbane Transit Center, turn right and follow Roma Street until you reach Upper Roma Street. You cannot mistake Chill Backpackers; it's the blue building on the left. The walk takes about 5-10 minutes.
Rooms are big enough and cozy, ranging from 6 to 12 bed dorms. They're also kept clean weekly. Bathrooms are clean and there's a sufficient amount of them in order to avoid queues.
Chill's common spaces are plentiful, in addition to the bottom floor's Internet Lounge and the fourth floor's kitchen, there is a big balcony in the fourth floor and a sun terrace on the fifth. Chill is a very social hostel, so if you're looking for nightlife and making friends, this is the place to go.
I was really happy with the hostel. If you're looking for peace and quiet, this might not be your best option, but for the more outgoing types, Chill Backpackers is very close to perfect. — Miika , Finland (2009-10-14)
Worst place I stayed in Oz Too big and impersonal and far too expensive, $28 for a 10 man dorm. Could nt get any sleep staying here, 2nd night we were all woken up by some guy at 3am looking for a guy in our room who owed him $50 for drugs before trying to get the rest of us to pay for this guy!!!
Bad showers, dirty and one has a pillar down the middle so you cant really move in it.
Dont stay here whatever you do!!! — Alex , England (2009-02-26)
Does not live up to rep The staff attempted to help find tours and with general info of the area but just did not seem very informed. They forgot to mention that i needed to give a deposit for plates and cutlery -- by the time i found out about it the desk closed and i was out of luck. Then i found bedbugs and checked out. — Karen , Canada (2009-01-15)
Sh*t Ive never written a review in my life but had to this time because its probably the worst backpackers ive stayed at in Australia. Cleanliness wasnt the issue -- the rooms and bathrooms were reasonably clean but the atmosphere was sh*t! the place is like a hospital! the beds were uncomfortable and the so called air conditioning was actually much hotter than outside so that everyone in our room had no chance of sleep. To cap it off the staff were rude and their policies inflexible and stupid. (they dont allow small backpacks, also I hadnt even been in the room and decided i didnt want to stay and they told me no refunds, no arguments having handed over the cash less than 1 minute before). basically the place is a concrete and white tiled block of a money making machine -- no one cares, it has no atmosphere and is basically a crap place to stay. if it wasnt smack bang in brisbane no one would ever stay there! — Jason , Australia (2008-06-10)
