The Smoking Pig is Irish owned and run and located centrally in Sofia, where the most famous Vitosha Bvd is just a 5 minute walk away and you can meet & see beautiful people, sitting, sipping coffee and nibbling salads throughout the day.

The Hostel is just within a walking distance of the central railway / bus station as well offering convenience & safety.

The Hostel offers bright, spacious and clean rooms with wooden floors. It also comes with a modern, fully equipped kitchen (self-catering). We also have a big sitting area to relax in with a number of couches and TV and Internet points, along with a large screen TV with satellite TV. The Dorms comes in 4 and 8 beds, new mattresses with fresh and clean sheets, blankets and pillows.

You will always find an element of mischief at the Smoking Pig whether it be the entertaining and friendly staff or the entertaining ambiance of the hostel. It is the most modern hostel in Sofia fully decorated to Western standard.

Gun Range tour - we offer an exclusive service where we provide you an all inclusive trip to the gun range to fire a selection of weapons only seen in the movies normally. Trip backwards and forwards to the gun range, ID verification, translation, brief safety course, target selection and the grand finale of shooting. Trip back to the Smoking Pig and a glass of fine ale to steady the adrenalin.

Impolite and unprofessional treatment

I am not a traveler, but recently I had to arrange a stay for fourteen American students in Sofia, Bulgaria. In the month of August, they stayed in the Smokin Pig hostel for two nights. The conditions in the hostel were great, but up to this moment, the owner of the hostel, John O Leary, has not provided us with the invoice we have required. Instead, his attitude was extremely rude towards us, his costumers. He did not answer phone calls, he hung up a couple of times and lastly he wrote me an impertinent email. Legal actions will be taken, but I do not wish other people to suffer his incompetence. I think that people who come to our beautiful country deserve to know this and not trust the smile on this irresponsible man's face.

Nice hostel but dirty and owner problems

Hostel is good looking and could be really good place but the bathroom is filthy, floor is covered with dust, the dishes are not clean, fridge stinks. Owner is generally ok, but in the end he is greedy and non obliging. non recommended hostel in Sofia.
