The Hostelz.com Review
Aaran House Tourist Hostel is ok -- it's extremely close to the train station. You could throw a stone at the station from the hostel. It is a two-minute walk to the train station and an eight-minute walk to the bus station. A single lady named Tracey runs the hostel. She can arrange a taxi to and from the hostel for a small price.
There is a self-catering kitchen on the premises, as well as a dog! There is also a dining room and living room with a small TV. The water temperature in the showers cannot be controlled -- it is lukewarm at best. There is no lockout or curfew, not even during the day for cleaning. The cleaning consisted of emptying the trash -- the bathroom was not cleaned nor was the floor vacuumed. Check out is at 10:30, but you are allowed to leave your luggage in the hostel all day until you are ready to leave.
No meals are included in the price, but the linen is. There are no security lockers nor are there locks on the doors. The best aspect of the hostel is the price.

Nice hostel! small but cosy and practical, few people -- you don't have to wait for the bathroom! people there are really nice. I'll go back. — camille (2006-08-29)

When I read it I thought it could be disgusting, but it was cheap and I went there. It's very good! Cean, orderly...and the owner is very nice. It is small but because there are few beds! Then there is a home enviroment. I was there just for one night but I can not say something bad, without the opposite! — ESTHER (2006-02-21)
Horrible!!! Sorry, but I have to write this. This hostel is dirty, unfriendly and rundown. It reeks in there, and the beds are totally sagging in the middle. The showers are nothing but disgusting! I was really disappointed and outraged! — Never Again (2005-07-22)

I stayed here for a month or so. It is very small, so it has a nice homely atmosphere. Tracey, the owner, is dead on and Reilly is a gorgeous dog. The kitchen is pretty small and when it's busy it can be difficult to get into it. The showers are a bit annoying, as you have to push a button for water every three seconds. It is very cheap and a good hostel to meet others if you're travelling on your own. — Dons (2005-01-19)

Nice little place. The rooms were a bit pokey, but it was clean and the owner was really nice. The dog was cool. — Stevo (2004-08-04)
Hostel is very small, with very old and hard, bed bug infested beds. The wash rooms are very dirty. Kitchen is very small. Riley the dog is very moody of new guests. The owner hangs out with an ex-con who drinks and does drugs in the hostel. The hostel does not accept credit cards. Doors to rooms do not lock. The hostel neeeds a serious update. It has potential if they invest the money. I'd go back - it was cheap! And I'm tough. — Spud (2004-04-06)
