Aaran House Tourist Hostel is ok -- it's extremely close to the train station. You could throw a stone at the station from the hostel. It is a two-minute walk to the train station and an eight-minute walk to the bus station. A single lady named Tracey runs the hostel. She can arrange a taxi to and from the hostel for a small price.
There is a self-catering kitchen on the premises, as well as a dog! There is also a dining room and living room with a small TV. The water temperature in the showers cannot be controlled -- it is lukewarm at best. There is no lockout or curfew, not even during the day for cleaning. The cleaning consisted of emptying the trash -- the bathroom was not cleaned nor was the floor vacuumed. Check out is at 10:30, but you are allowed to leave your luggage in the hostel all day until you are ready to leave.
No meals are included in the price, but the linen is. There are no security lockers nor are there locks on the doors. The best aspect of the hostel is the price.

Nice hostel! small but cosy and practical, few people -- you don't have to wait for the bathroom! people there are really nice. I'll go back. — camille (2006-08-29) When I read it I thought it could be disgusting, but it was cheap and I went there. It's very good! Cean, orderly...and the owner is very nice.
