Hostelz.com's Review
Seven Hostel is an inexpensive hostel just outside of Sorrento with free breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and first-class facilities. Since the bottom floor is a club/bar/restaurant, it's a great place to meet people and socialize.

The Location

The hostel is just outside of Sorrento, in a pretty quiet neighborhood. There are a handful of restaurants and markets, and the city of Sorrento is about a thirty-minute walk away. To get here, get off the Circumvesuviana Train at S. Agnello. Walk down Viale dei Pini towards the see, and turn left at Via Dell'Edrera. Turn right on Via Iomella Grande and Seven Hostel will be right in front of you.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The rooms are some of the nicest hostel rooms available. They are made up of a series of bunk beds, but the top bunks are very high, as are the ceilings, so you don't feel like you're in a bunk. Each bed comes with full linen, and is very comfortable. They also each have their own locker (you must provide your own lock), reading lamp, and power outlet. The room is also very spacious, so even with a dozen people you don't feel cramped.

The bathrooms are also very nice and modern. They're nicely decorated, with three toilet stalls and two to three shower stalls. Everything works well, although the water pressure could be a bit stronger. There are hooks outside of the doors to the showers, but unfortunately, there is nowhere to put your things inside.

Common Spaces

There is an upstairs deck on the roof, featuring lounge chairs and couches. It's a great view at night and, on sunny days, a great place to hang out and lounge around, since it looks out over the ocean. There is also a computer room, a TV room, and a library, which is basically a small room with couches and a small book exchange.

There is no kitchen, but there is a bar/restaurant, with pretty good prices and decent food -- and a free breakfast (the usual pastries, coffee, tea, and cereal). They occasionally offer specials like an inexpensive buffet dinner or a happy hour. This area becomes a club at night, which can keep you up if you're an early sleeper, but also makes for a fun party atmosphere. People are often down here socializing and having fun, and there is occasionally live music. Even the locals come here to party.

Summary

Seven Hostel is a fantastic place. The location isn't ideal if you were hoping to walk into Sorrento, but it's only a short train ride away. And you can't beat the great price, amazing facilities, and social atmosphere.

5   Perfect The best hostel any of us have ever stayed at. Wonderful room, lounge, rooftop patio, and a delicious free breakfast ... And for so cheap! We will all recommend it to friends looking for a place near Pompeii. Thank you thank you thank you.  , age 21, USA ()
4   Fantastic facilites but no atmosphere and a decent walk to Sorrento The hostel itself was fantastic. The rooms were large and spacious -- even for the person on the top bunk. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom facilities (although down a flight of stairs) were very good. Probably the best showers we used in out Europe trip (MASSIVE shower heads). The restaurant food was okay, but not incredible. Sorrento is a bit of a hike away as the hostel is located out of town. The place has all the facilities to make it a great party hostel, but it lacks atmosphere greatly! The rooftop lounge area should be pumping instead it was desolate. Great facilities, but needs to work on creating more atmosphere.  , Australia ()
5   A hidden treasure amongst S. Agnello! This hostel is just a step outside of Sorrento and is a true treasure. Great staff, free WIFI, clean and comfy beds, awesome roof, safe atmosphere -- you couldn't ask for more! It books fast though!  , age 20 ()
3   Average I stayed at this hostel twice, with two completely different experiences. It was as if the staff had been encouraged to behave with more kindness. On the first visit, the cleaning staff spoke disrespectfully, requesting I get off the stairs while she cleaned them. She continued to sweep dirt toward me. I do not know how she expected me to get to my room or if she expected me to wait until the stairs were completely swept, washed, and dry? Also, the cleaning staff removed my clothes that were drying and did not inform the staff. When I asked where they went, no one knew! They were found the following day. I am sure the staff is inundated with travel questions, but they seemed burnt out. The second visit, the staff was much more pleasant, accommodating, and helpful. They provide fantastic, live music each Saturday night. However, I do feel this hostel is very specific for travelers under 23 years old. Also, no Italian coffee with breakfast, without an additional charge.  ()
