We frequently have students, artists, musicians, and many friends passing through here.We have approximately 100 vacancies in total, as well as a large gallery, a multimedia room, massage/relaxation room and kitchen. We also offer many other facilities including excursions, entry to concerts, theatres, parties and other specific courses for travellers including, "The History of Brazilian Art", "The History of Brazilian Architecture" plus other workshops.
The hostel is a beautiful redeveloped old building from the end of the 19th Century, situated just over the road from the gardens of Catete Palace. We are only a 15 minute walk from the Arches of Lapa, Cinelândia and Flamengo, from where you can visit Sugar Loaf Mountains (Pão de Açúcar) and Christ the Redeemer.We are located just 100 metres from Catete Metro Station from where you can get to Ipanema, Copacabana and Leblon in 15 minutes.

- Staff is absolutely friendly and helpful!
- possibility to rent bikes, go to samba shows and much more!
- Staff speaks a lot of languages (e.g. portugues, spanish, english, french, german (manager is german))
- we had a private doubleroom including an own bathroom for 20€/person/night
- great terrace with nice kitchen etc.
- best breakfast we've ever had in a hostel

The staff were more than helpful very friendly and made my stay like I was at a friends house! I would definantly stay there again. Plenty of closeby restaurants, and buses and metro right at the door step.

Staff could not even find my booking upon my arrival and then tried to overcharge me. Breakfast is served from 8 o'clock which I think is ridiculous as I had to leave there at 7.30. Surely other people miss out too for such a late meal. On the positive though, I arrived way before check in time and as a room was free they let me check in early at no extra cost.

The deck for breakfast and chilling out was awesome, and the art all throughout the hostel definitely added to the character. The staff were very enthusiastic to provide help on any day plans you had.

I was only here for a night at the tail-end of my stay in Rio but really wish I had found it earlier. Genuinely helpful and lovely staff, gorgeous building, free quick internet, piano keyboard!, lots of character. Awesome.

Hostel located very well. Good breakfast. Rooms clean but like small cages, generally without a window. Fan was so horrible that couldn't sleep whole night. Can be for one max 2 nights but for more not worth to stay.

There are three very good things about this hostel.1. Is located in a very good place (close to Lapa and Santa Theresa), the metro station is close by, lots of shops and restaurants nearby as well. 2. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. They seriously become your light in the darkness if you don´t speak portugese :)3. The breakfast is superb! It´s top notch really. It´s served on the roof-top patio and has a broad selection of everything including baguettes, fresh fruit, crackers, cakes, cheese, ham, juices, coffee, tea etc.
