5 Good Hostel and Accommodating Manager
We had a very pleasant stay in the Shara Mountains Hostel in August 2008. Our room was comfortable and had everything that we needed -- a good bed, clean bathroom, and warm shower. The price is very reasonable. The room faced the street and looked out onto Wadi Musa. If you are sensitive to noise, I would recommend asking for a room in the back of the hostel so that you can avoid the 4:20 a.m. prayer and 6 a.m. rooster ruckus. The Manager warns of this when picking a room. The Manager is especially accommodating. He personally gave us free transport to Petra twice -- once on the evening that we arrived and again on the day that we were leaving. He also helped us arrange our travel back to Amman via the tourist bus. On our last day, he arranged for us to leave our bags at the hostel in the morning and then meet us with our bags when it was time to catch the bus back to Amman -- this saved us the great hassle of trying to handle luggage in Jordan's August heat. We tried to tip him for his effort and time spent, but he graciously refused. In addition to the help with logistics, he was also an interesting man to chat with -- commenting on the history of Wadi Musa and his take on the morning prayer. We had a great experience and would highly recommend Shara Mountains Hostel to anyone traveling to Petra.

1 Clean but not so good staff
This hotel is quite new and room is clean. The staff are little gloomy but kind. But they can't do anything without manager's permission, even the lift to Petra. We asked shuttle to Petra one day before but the staff only said that we should ask the manager directly despite the manager always out. After all we couldn't get shuttle and the staff pays money to taxi to send us to Petra. He said that we should take taxi for return way and be paid back money. But the all taxi from Petra has never run with meter and refuse us in small money. We required the manager 3JD (our best!) to be paid back but he refused to say that I could return only 1JD. After argument he willingly reduces 3JD from our accommodation fee. Instead,he turned off hot water. As far as seeing other reviews this hotel treats costumer as normal in high season but we might not expect in low season. He throws over the room key to us. It seems represent what he is like. During our stay nobody came here. Meanwhile, the opposite side of the hotel had many tourists.

3 Correct, clean
The relation quality price of the hotel is quite good. Everything was clean and correct. Just the shower did not pour much water and the water goes out of the shower place. A fan would be not a bad idea for the hot jordan nights! In general, I would recommend the hotel.

3 Clean hostel in an average location
The hostel is clean, room (the one I stayed in anyway) is quite small. Location is at the edge of town in Wadi Musa. It takes about twenty minutes to walk downhill to the gate of the site. You won't want to walk uphill back to the hotel so it's about 1.5 or 2 JD to taxi it back there. One thing I must mention is that it is highly inadvisable to stay there without a booking through an online hostel site because they will charge you through the roof if you just walk in off the street. I was charged 18JD a night for a room there (for four nights) which is basically over 30USD a night, which is way way too much for what you're getting. If you happen to arrive in Wadi Musa without a booking, look elsewhere. However, the price they advertise online is reasonable for what you get.

4 Clean, Great, Fun, Knowledegable Staff, Great Location
The Shara Mountains Hotel is located near the center of Wadi Musa. Good food, internet and entertainment are only a minute walk away. The brothers that run the place are lots of fun, always willing to answer questions, and always ready to make you laugh. Everyone there speaks great English along with a number of other languages. They are happy to stretch to make your Petra experience great. The rooms are simple and clean. The bathrooms are clean. Beds -- comfy, and the satellite TV offers three hundred-plus channels to entertain. Highly recommended!

5 Very nice, not expensive, cleen -- cool palce!
We have spent there two nights. Not new, but just well renovated. Clean room and bathroom. Very hospitable stuff, ready for all request. Tasty breakfast. Probably unbeatable offer at this price (20JD [20eur] double room/night) for three-star hotel (not hostel) in Petra.
