The Hostelz.com Review
Bright, cheery, art deco style place with a friendly atmosphere. It really does feel more like hanging out in a house than a hostel. There is a living room, a kitchen, and a TV room. The rooms have regular beds rather than bunk beds and they aren't crowded so there's space to move around. Lockers are available downstairs. The rooms don't have A/C but there is a floor fan in most rooms.

3 Bad -- price, no air con. good -- friendly staff, communal area
I was there with two friends in the middle of the summer heat. We got a room on the uppermost floor, facing inwards. It must have been more than 40 degrees there, which made sleeping pretty much impossible. I'm sure each of us left a liter of sweat in the beds each night, which would explain the ugly smell of the place (since everyone that tries to sleep there does that). Why is there no Air con? Especially for the price you pay for this hostel (it is very expensive compared to others) this is really ridiculous. On the light side is the incredibly helpful staff (however, not for arranging a better room) and the very relaxed communal area. But also here, for the price that you pay free coffee/tea and toast should be offered.

5 Comfortable, relaxed place to stay
I stayed here for three nights in May in a room facing outwards (right onto La Lonja) and an another night in one of the interior rooms. The hostel is clean, only four beds per room, and comfortable with fans in the rooms. There is a bathroom on each floor (two showers, two toilets). There was definitely a large mix of ages, though on my second stay it seemed like we had an influx of American students. All in all my impression is that this place is more laid back than a party atmosphere, though people were friendly. The common area was a great place to relax and the kitchen facilities were good. They do ask you to be quiet in the common room late at night, but this is out of consideration of the other guests as many of the rooms face the interior courtyard. I highly recommend this place -- comfort and cleanliness cannot be overrated when you are tired from hopping from place to place!

5 A lot of charm invested in the decoration of the place, great atmosphere, friendly staff, clean sharing-facilities. we loved the kitchen and the "living room." one of the best backpackers hostels we have ever been to. The only flaw was the room we got. it had no outdoor windows. However, we spent most of the time on the beach or sightseeing (it's really a laid-back city).

5 Great hostel. Very safe, secure with a security system, colourful and cheery. almost every room has its own balcony like all the old school Spanish buildings which is fantastic. They have a television corner which was a great hanging out area to yell and bond over the world cup during (we went during june 2006). Vending machine has cheap beer, if i'm not wrong, it's cheaper then a can of Pepsi! Strong hot shower, very clean bathrooms, one can almost sleep in there! kitchen's more of a corner but everything is provided. they were doing something to the roof when i was there, think they are creating a sunroof for chilling or something. And, most important of all, it's near the clubbing/pubbing areas, you know, classic European back alley bars. One can get pissed and still be able to stumble back safely saving a good amount on cab. Beds were extremely comfy, cleaner than mine back home!

5 This hostel is excellent. The building itself is very brightly decorated in all areas, with paintwork being kept in good condition all round. The kitchen and common areas are kept spotless, due to the continued cleaning of the staff on duty. Also the kitchen free food area is very helpful, meaning that you are not required to spend money on 'store goods' such as oil, salt, and pepper as they are always kept in stock. There is never a great fight to use the kitchen space, however this may come from the fact that the people staying at the youth hostel are a little older and have a little more disposable income (to eat out!) than the residents of the sister hostel -- Home Backpackers. The other great advantage of this place compared to the backpackers is that the rooms are a lot smaller -- typically up to four people per room and all beds are single beds -- no creaky bunk beds! Again, this type of accommodation is probably more popular with slightly older backpackers.Overall a really great place with lovely staff and cool people staying. Five out of Five!

4 Stayed mid-July'06 Great hostel with a very homely (sic) feel. You feel like you're just living in an oversized share-house, with a brilliantly thought-out kitchen/common-room/reception bundled together that ensures no one can stay here without meeting all the other guests... Obviously undergoing renovations during my stay, so can only improve from there...

5 A great hostel. Very friendly staff. A lot of the guests are foreign students who are looking for a place to rent, and stay there for quite a while. But this creates a community there that they welcome you into and make you feel a part of. Valencia is a great city to relax and enjoy, and Home is a highlight.

5 Excellent hostel! It has helpful, friendly staff, great facilities, a perfect location and it's really easy to meet people. The only drawback if you stay from the end of June to the beginning of September is that some of the rooms are internal, so they don't have a window to the outside. And there's no air-conditioning so the heat gets pretty unbearable.

4 This place is good overall, but not very social. You have to be quiet after midnight, and they are pretty strict about it. At the same time, it is a good place to stay and it is clean and friendly. And of course, there are tons of bars and clubs to go to nearby to party at.

4 Great location, comfy beds, and relaxed atmosphere. My friend and I arrived at 6 a.m. off the night train from Granada and were able to crash in our room straight away without being charged for it as a "night." (However, they had no record of the phone reservation I had made 2 days earlier.)

4 I would give this place is four and a half stars! It has a great atmosphere, and great staff. Great price! It's a bit cramped, but that's really not a problem. It's in a cool part of town, also.

4 I had an amazing time here. It has a really friendly (English-speaking) staff — handy in Valencia as none of the locals speak English!!! It has a good space for relaxing and cooking food. My only complaints would be that the room was really cold (but I could have extra blankets) and the showers weren't always hot (but that's probably because I never got out of bed before 12). All in all, it's a really friendly hostel. I'd definitely go back.

4 This hostel has delightful, helpful staff. It's in a great location next to a large market. There's great nightlife near the hostel.

5 This hostel is fantastic! It has a nice kitchen and is the perfect place to relax, meet fellow travelers, and watch some DVDs (nice lounge areas). It is not so close to the beach but a perfect "home-like" place for the weary traveler.

5 This is such a great place to stay that I noticed some people didn't leave. Whenever I'd come in — 8 a.m., noon, 4 p.m., midnight, madrugada [dawn], whenever — I saw the same people enjoying themselves doing the same things at the hostel. This is a perfect place for a traveler to kick it for a few days while enjoying the town.
