I took my wife and 2 teenagers to Waidroka in October '04. We had an absolutely terrific time, and extended our stay. My son surfed the best waves he's ever had, and we live on the coast near Newcastle NSW (Australia). My wife and daughter had amazing snorkeling experiences and I had a brilliant time spear fishing. The jungle setting is exceptionally beautiful. There is a great variety boats available, suited to inner reef and ocean work. The food was good, but we would have appreciated more local fish and fruit. I would happily return.

Staff were excellent, but the ownership ran the resort very poorly.

The former American owners were wonderful! These Israeli people do not know the first thing about operating a Fiji-style resort. The guys can go surfing often enough but there are no other activities whatsoever — no traditional stuff — no kava parties like other resorts have. It was a void of a Fijian experience. Surrounding residents no longer gather at the resort as they used to for socializing, because the place has such an unfriendly atmosphere. The owners are as polite as necessary to guests but are horrible to their wonderful staff. If I ever return to Waidroka, and that is highly doubtful, I hope all the staff are still there and the ownership has changed.

I have stayed at the Resort several times throughout the past years and I will always come back. The waves were great and the diving was fantastic. The resort is good value for money and the food is good. The resort was managed previously by Americans who were horrible, and the current managers or owners are simply a breath of fresh air. They are friendly and helpful, although they seem very busy. My stay here was brilliant and the secluded setting in the middle of the rainforest is truly magnificent.

I recently stayed at Waidroka. The new owners are an Israeli couple and are reportedly worse than the previous owners. They certainly project unfriendliness, mean-spiritedness and incompetence in abundance. The staff are nice people, but clearly unhappy. The food is over-priced and tastes awful. The packed lunch to Frigates is miserable and inadequate. I was lucky to surf good waves during my stay, but I see no reason to return. The resort does not visit all the breaks advertised on the Web, so that only "Frigates," "Pipe," "Resorts Left," and "Serua Rights" are available. "Resorts Left" is pitiful, and "Serua Rights" is a great wave, but very inconsistent. Stay here if you want to waste your time and money in Fiji, or alternatively want to see how NOT to run a surf resort, and be sure to check your bill for mistakes and extra charges when you leave. I've traveled around, and Fiji is a wonderful place, so don't waste your time at Waidroka!!!

I stayed here from June 30th to July 8th. The management in this place is absolutely horrible and none of the guests seemed to be happy. There were loads of hidden costs and not all of them legitimate.
