The Dartmoor Expedition Centre has two bunkhouses based on an old Dartmoor Farm at 1000 feet (300 meters) on the edge of open moorland. It is an outstanding beautiful centre for moorland walking, climbing, canoeing, caving, pony trekking and mountain biking. The accommodation is basic but comfortable with all that is needed for self catering but meals can be provided if ordered in advance.
There are two bunkhouses. The House Barn has a kitchen/living area down stairs with two electric cooking stoves and everything needed for self-catering. A woodburner stove keeps the room warm in winter. Upstairs there are 14 beds, 5 of which are in a small inner room. The Gate Barn has 21 beds with 11 of them downstairs and 10 upstairs.There are electric radiant heaters in the dormitories as well as night storage heaters There are separate washrooms for men and women with free hot water for showers partly powered by solar panels.
