Staff dont ask for tips (common in egypt). staff is really helpful (i needed to buy medice and they helped me and they were very good to indicate how to get to places). The tour they booked me to Aswan and Luxor was great and not expensive (believe me, it is better to pay them than to try to do it by yourself; train stations are very different and hard to deal with than europe - I should have got the tour to Saqaara, really). Ah, before taking the felluca, ask how it really is - I hated it but they have nothing to do with it, it is a cultural thing I guess LOL

This hostel was the best we have stayed at in months. First if all we were greeted in the airport fir pick up by a man who was beyond helpful with all if our questions, the staff is very friendly an welcoming. Mohammed is the best staff member and helped us out to book all different tours and went out if his way to answer all if our questions and try and help us find train tickets when we couldn't. The rooms are very big and clean and there are clean bathrooms with hot water. Nice common room with tv and computers. The hostel is in an absolute perfect loction in the city center, next door to the Egyptian museum and the Nile and only 15 minutes to the pyramids.

Cairo is hectic and The Canadian Hostel provides you with a sanctuary to return to each night. The staff are extremely helpful and honest (not an easy trait to find in Cairo). Excellent value for the cost and primely located next to metro and around the corner from the museum. FYI - take advantage of free airport pickup as getting there on your on is not an easy task!

Nothing. I got a dusty ugly room for 20 USD. On top of that the staff tried to sell me on a tour of the Pyramids for a wildly inflated price. I eventually bargained them down, BUT the next morning they informed me I would not be goingn on the tour. This is because I allegedly did not reconfirm with them that night, which is insane because we spent half an hour planning the trip and parted ways agreeing that I was booked. Why did the tour not happen, I'm guessing they were just too lazy to book the tour.

1, The guy Jimmy there is really kind and helpful, but the Giza-Saqqara-Memphis day tour package he tried to sell is really over priced (350 LE). You can actually get a similar one for half of that price at Giza Metro station.2. The place is next to a busy street, and sound proof is really poor, if you want a good rest, never choose a hotel/hostel like this one for all your stays in Egypt, the people will never get quite until 1am.

Nice and very helpful staff. The most friendly of maids I've ever seen. Two older ladies that helped with laundry and brought you breakfast every morning.
