A transportation hub for planes, trains, ships and zeppelins, Friedrichshafen is the ideal starting point for excursions in the region. Ever dreamed of floating through the air in a zeppelin? Friedrichshafen is known as the birthplace of the zeppelin airship.
The Zeppelin Museum houses the world's largest collection on aviation history and combines technology with art. Just fancy a stroll? The promenade in Friedrichshafen is one of the longest and most beautiful on Lake Constance. Lakeside view guaranteed.

The Graf Zeppelin Youth Hostel in Friedrichshafen is situated just 50 m away from Lake Constance at the Rotachbrücke bridge, on the eastern edge of town. The Lake Constance cycle path runs right next to the hostel.

Fancy soaking up some culture or just having some fun? Do you want to enjoy the lake, swim and go boating? Everything's possible in the Youth Hostel of Friedrichshafen. Tired after a trip to neighbouring Austria or Switzerland? Exhausted by the activities in the town or in the area? The hostel offers good food and a quiet place to relax. Not tired yet? There's plenty of place to run around in our playing field. Or how about a game of table tennis?

The person our hostel is named after:
Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin was born in Konstanz on July 8th, 1838. He studied mechanical engineering, chemistry and political science and served in the military. From 1873 onwards, he was involved in the development of airships. After serving in the army he focused making his dream come true together with Theodor Kober - constructing an airship. Zeppelin's airship yard was located near Friedrichshafen. The first steerable rigid airships was also built there. Various airships took off there between 1910 and 1914.

The Graf Zeppelin Youth Hostel team in Friedrichshafen is looking forward to your visit.
