At The Right Place is disappointing in several ways. From the booking experience through to checkout, it's unwelcoming and dodgy. The reception is managed by what seems like a family who takes it in turns to check in guests. There is a very brief explanation at check-in regarding the rooms and facilities. There is no effort given to make the guests feel welcome, which gives a bad feel to the hostel overall from the beginning. For the price of a bed at this hostel, it is quite affordable, however, value for money is not so great.
The Location
The hostel is well located close to centre of town and necessary facilities such as fuel stations and shopping centres. The hostel is easy to find if traveling in a car. There is parking located on the premises, making it relatively easy to navigate, especially if traveling solo.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Inside the hostel, the rooms (including the kitchen) are all dark and smelly. The dorm rooms are spacious but hard to navigate. There is decent and clean linen for guests to use (towels not included) and the dorm seems relatively clean. There are no lockers for guests to use, and odd rooms and balconies are present throughout. Each bed is awkwardly located and there are no power points nearby for convenience. From the dorm room you can hear people and conversations going on outside and you can smell the smoke from the smokers' area coming through the window.
The bathrooms are very small and pokey and not very clean. They are unisex bathrooms with no door. The bathrooms are hard to move around in, as they are tight.
Common Spaces
The common spaces are dirty and dingy and very unwelcoming. They give an uncomfortable vibe and do not encourage guests to stay there or to mingle. The kitchen is very cluttered and dirty but provides guests with enough to make their meal there.
Summary
In summary, this hostel is not recommended for those who wish to have a pleasant stay in Christchurch. The hostel could be much better managed and cleaned in order to provide guests with a better experience. There is potential for the hostel to improve immensely and give visitors a much better point of view of Christchurch.

Christchurch city centre is ringed by 4 main Avenues. We are on Bealey Avenue, which is situated on the main roads going in and out of Christchurch. We are also on the direct route to and from the airport. We are a 5-10 min walk to Hagley Park, Botanical Gardens, Canterbury Museum and Art Gallery and Cathedral Square.
